What's made you grumpy today?

The Picnic Wasp

DHL duly arrived today. As the driver walked up the path I could see he was carrying a medium sized box and not a rolled up rug. He handed me the box which sounded like it contained bird seed so my mind suggested that my sister had bought something for my macaw and forgot to mention it.

Fortunately I spotted the microscopic address label made out to a Far Eastern name from a road half a mile away. I was lucky, the incessant torrential rain of the past few days had relented so I bolted down the driveway in my slippers and managed to stop him driving off. The driver was extremely apologetic (they get enough practice) blaming those who had loaded the van.

He scrambled about in the absolute shambles of boxes strewn about the floor and announced mine wasn't there. He was almost standing on top of the rolled up rug wrapped in clear polythene so I pointed this out to him and finally received my delivery. If I was devious I'm would use the fact that he didn't get his photo of the rug on my doorstep and claim another one, but that would be theft and make me as bad as the world I complain about so much these days.

Oh well, Christmas shopping now complete without leaving the house but not exactly stress free.

Next time by a flying carpet that can transport itself to your house.

Went to the hospital, finally a real doctor was there. Seems the verdict is still weak tissue damage, albeit quite severe. Also - and this was puzzling - there is arthrosis in the foot that was 'dormant' and 'woke up' due to the impact. I was not aware that was even possible but it would explain the discomfort I keep having, this combined with the earlier mentioned damage.

Now what? Well, I mantioned it was going on for 5 months and I found that to be quite long, to which he stated: "well, in my world..". He mentioned having had severe cases of ligament damage taking up to a year to a year and a half to fully recover. In other words: it can take a while before you are there.

Fuck.

Am going to get help from another PT and an orthopedic epscialist to see how I can get some relief. But of course with Christmas around the corner, and waiting lists, that'll be mid January.

Meanwhile, I'll limp through life.

^Good luck Nop, I hope you can get relief soon, but yeah Christmas is a crap time for all things medical.

I had the staples removed from my knee this morning. A relief for sure but a few of them were bloody painful coming out. Anyway, despite being told my GP would be contacted by the hospital to arrange a physio referral, it turns out it's only self-referral round here. It would have been nice to know this a few weeks ago as now I'll probably not get anything until the NY. Here are a couple of pics, staples in and staples out:

Had my 2nd PT appointment today, this one seems to understand what he is doing and can actauly explain what he feels when he twists and pulls my foot. He then reached up my foot, right to where the toes and muscles group is connected, I think I might have have mentally wished him less Christmassy things. On a scale from 1-10 the pain was 11. So.. I guess I will feel that a few days to come. It's not like I'm going anywhere but still.

All in the name of progress of course.

That sounds horrendous, Nop. I hope you get some relief from the pain soon and can still get some enjoyment from the holiday period. All the very best for the time of year.

Yeah, good luck Nop. Hopefully a few drinkies over the festive season will ease things a bit; that's my plan anyway and I've not had a drink for over a month now.

All the best Nop; I'm going through a long course of dental treatment and  spent some of my Christmas Eve on a chair having some sutures removed from my gums.  Not comparable to what you're having to endure of course, but the relief of not having to eat through one side of my mouth after weeks of having to do so was immense.

Slim

Charles' "Christmas message" this afternoon was chock full of religious bollocks; embarrassing in 2025. I don't remember his mother going overboard on the sky fairy nonsense in quite the same way.

Poor bastard obviously had it brainwashed into him at a young age and never had the intelligence to overcome it.

Matt2112

Yes, to hear any grown adult talk about "angels" and the supernatural hogwash of the "Natvity" story as if they were real and true events is exasperating enough at the best of times; when it comes from a monarch, one can only despair.

Those bits of Charles' speech that didn't have an overt religious element consisted of vapid, fluffy platitudes that the free version of Meta AI would baulk at.
