So sunrise tomorrow here is 04:37 with sunset at 21:59... thought I'd check all the way til the longest day... best we get is a sunrise at 04:35 and sunset at 22:05..

We lose our first minute at sunset on the 29th June..  22:04 and sunrises by then are already later at 04:39

Unfortunately it feels like hell today with 30+ degrees here. But we get to enjoy the light, that's true.

It's all a bit weird. I definitely get the pit of the stomach sensation of slight dread when this date is finally reached, and yet when the dark nights eventually win I quite enjoy them. It's obviously the Watchmaker process running silently in my subconscious. I can't remember when this kicked in. At primary school I was so excited when the clocks went back and we all got to wear our hi-viz armbands and stuff. Autumn was a brilliant time as a child. Conkers (collecting and playing), the more adventurous and neighbour annoying street games, scrumping, Halloween, Guy Fawkes, crap bangers thereafter and then the Blue Peter Advent candle coat hanger thingy which meant presents very soon.

This year's latest sunset, here anyway, occurs on 24th June. Tonight's sunset occurs 9 seconds later than last night's. Tomorrow night's, another 5 seconds later. Then another 3 seconds later on Tuesday, at 21:34:05.
