Nov 25 we break the 16:00 sunset barrier here with 15:59.. this time of year sucks..

Not as much as January and February IMHO

I think those months feel bad because winter has been hanging around so long by then. The garden is beginning to get in a right state and because we have dogs I feel the grass will never grow again. However, it's also rapidly getting lighter by then and sometimes there's actual warmth in the air.

By 1st Dec we're at 15:53 sunset so 6 mins out from the earliest  in mid Dec

Not too far away from the shortest day now though and I always enjoy the knowledge of a turning point being passed. Going back to work after the holidays used to be the worst time for me, driving there and back in the dark, but by the end of January that had started to resolve.

At the moment here in NW Leics sunset is getting earlier at a rate of about 1 min 15 secs a day. But by 5th December, that slows to about 30 seconds a day. The earliest sunset will occur on 13th December. 15:50.

I take your point but I can recall years where there has been pleasant enough weather in February.

I take your point but I can recall years where there has been pleasant enough weather in February.

A bit like today? Here at least. Cold but clear. Lovely 7-mile walk in the sunshine

I like the morning commute in December - unlike in November, the sun doesn't get right in my eyes. And in late December I'm not commuting at all.

Just checked the data for Navan. Still have 15 more minutes of daylight to lose in the morning but today is as early as it gets for sunset. It stays at 16:06 until the 18th when we get a minute back

Here in the East Midlands, or at least in this specific location, sunset occurred this afternoon at 15:50 and 12 seconds. Same as yesterday. But tomorrow they start to get later - only 3 seconds but hey.

But by Christmas Day we're getting over 40 seconds of afternoon back per day.
