16:36:34 today. Updated my spreadsheet with the 2025 figures. We're getting roughly 1 min, 50 seconds of afternoon daylight back per day at the moment.

Interestingly that peaks on 18th Feb, when the afternoon will be 1 min, 55 secs longer than the previous day.

By wed 29th   sunset will be 16.47.... an hour back from earliest sunset..

And today is the day.. nice feeling and January almost out the way which is an even better feeling.. by Feb 1 we're at 16.53

Yes, I've officially entered the time of year I commute both ways in daylight.  Daffs will be up before I know it.

Sunset occurs at 17:24 today, nearly 94 minutes later than 13th Dec 2024. Third column has the increase in afternoon daylight since that date, fourth is the increase since the previous day.  As you can see it starts to slow down a bit from now. So today's sunset is 1 min, 55 secs later than yesterday's, but (for example) 11th March is only 1 min, 49 seconds later than 10th March.

Some weirdness with time here.. we were an hour ahead of UK time getting here and they've now put the time back an hour due to Ramadan staring next weekend so we're back in alignment with Uk time.. sunset today 18.26

Although south of you, we had the sun for one minute longer. I'm assuming that's due to longitude.

Glad you mentioned that because I've never really known quite how it works so I looked it up. The sunset line comes in at an angle and it's not straight (as you'd expect on a curved surface).

I like that you appear to have taken the trouble of plotting the line through my home town showing clearly the reason for the difference. Nice one!

Really interesting. The angle at which the sunset comes over depends on the time of year. So in January it passes over like this:
