Doesn't seem like quite the appropriate thread, but today marked 45 years since my dad's passing. That's only 6 years short of his entire lifetime. Not fair, and I wonder how our relationship would have developed if he had lived. He was a very quiet man and weirdly his illness (Legionnaires') ended up being front page news in the newspaper he worked for. He caught the virus in the workplace and these days his family would have been looked after because of this. My mother got next to nothing. I think that has embittered me about this entitled society but I'm probably better off for the experience.

Would agree that it shouldn't be a news item, but I must admit I did find the whole series fantastically entertaining.

Health Insurance send me a form to fill out on a possible accident I might have had, based on declarations they received.

I fell down the stairs or rather: slid. Who are going to claim these costs with then?

Anyway, still using one crutch when walking more than 500 metres. Weekly PT, and going back to hospital the 19th.
I am not 20 anymore that is certain. My framework has been replaced. It used to be rubber and bounced back. It now feels brittle.

It's been 4 months, I have had more than enough.

Managed to ruin my PC monitor today.
Earlier on in the day I was updating my finances and notice some credit card slips had fallen down the back of the desk. On retrieving them I also found the floor had accumulated quite a bit of detritus - spiders webs, dust bunnies, bits of cake bar etc. - so when I was doing the hoovering later I got under the desk to get it cleaned up, of course I somehow managed to upset the desk a bit and felt something fall on my back. it was the monitor.

I turned round expecting to see the worst, but it was still on! Getting out to see the whole thing and the top left corner is black with coloured horizontal and vertical stripes and then where it hit my heel it looks like cracked glass radiating out from point of impact. Bugger. More expense.

I can still see enough in the bottom right of the screen, it's like back to the size of my late 80s monitor screen.

What a morning. First a filling drops out of a molar while eating, no time to waste though because I had a hospital appointment for The Foot. Doctor (a different one of course) wants to do another X Ray but this time put weight on the foot. He sees something on that X ray and orders a CT scan, whch I can have the 2nd of December (!). Advise: do not put to much strain on the foot. After 4,5 months of being told to just use it and walk on it...

Then, while limping back to the parking garage, we spot a girl on the roof (4 stories high) that looks like she wants to jump down. it is pissing down with rain so it's not a sport you just go stand for fun. We rush the elevator up, my wife grabs her to stop her from climing up the railing, and I call the emergency services.
We stand there, a couple of minutes, trying to calm her down and I am giving instructions to the EM and all of a sudden a security guard spots us from the ground and runs up. He grabs her and takes her away, and I am left with a traumatized wofe, the girl couldn't have been more than 14.. so sad.

Other than that, just a regular morning..Jesus.

Couldn't agree more. That was a very brave intervention, especially in this day and age of keep on walking, or as is now disgracefully common filming the event. You should be proud.

Bought a new monitor for my PC and a day later the price has dropped £50
