Father in law fell and smashed his face on the pavement in the morning followed by my father falling and tearing the skin on his forearm badly. Luckily my daughter is a nurse but every week is bringing this type of thing now.

I've been in considerable pain this week due to sciatica, so my sister apologetically asked me to accompany her to the petrol station to show her how to operate the air machine.

She pulled into the bay and as I tried to figure out the workings of the new card payment system an old Mercedes saloon pulled up behind, inches from her rear bumper. He got out and stood shoulder to shoulder with me and muttered something in an Eastern European broken English. He then pointed to the front of his car and aggressively stated "one, one only" and ushered me out of the way.

It was clear to me he meant business. His skanky blonde sidekick then got out and they began to thrust phone payments towards the machine which seemed to eventually respond. I'm 6'3" and 16 stone but being 65 puts me into the no threat category which is a bit depressing, but probably also quite lucky.

I'm becoming sickened by this country and I'm now worried that I will vote next time in an angry state of mind. Oh, and the Mercedes also had a different set of number plates sitting clearly in view on the dashboard. The handcart is rapidly approaching its destination.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are set to move into a new home in Windsor.
William and Catherine will move to the eight-bedroom Forest Lodge in Windsor Great Park, with their children George, Charlotte and Louis.
The family have been living in Adelaide Cottage in the castle grounds since August 2022 but after a challenging 18 months that has seen the princess deal with a cancer diagnosis and treatment they have now decided to make a change.

You should always vote in an angry state of mind if the incumbents make you feel that way.

Sorry to this.  Same with my mum.  Content worries.  Add into the mix a 17 and 18 year old without any clear direction...it's stressful.

This isn't really a grumpy post as such, more of a wry, affectionate, performative expression of faux-grumpiness, but:

Another call from BT today. This time it was Claudette from the 'background team' to assure me she was working on my fault (or "order" as they annoyingly continue to call it. Again, I expressed my frustration and dissatisfaction. Again, a BT call handler sympathised and apologised and ensured they would sort it.
Well, we do now have a working landline...just not our number! She called to confirm it was working and will submit the "order" to port the correct number over tomorrow. If this is done too soon, the "robotic" system will have a meltdown.
And therein is BT's main problem IMHO (and I have some experience here). Such has been BT's insistence on automating things they've often been sold and employed systems that are not resilient enough to work a lot of the time and when it goes wrong, it goes very wrong. I'm sure that the money they've saved has been offset to a considerable degree by having to employ people to handle calls from dissatisfied customers that have been shafted by some of these systems.
Hopefully compensation will be forthcoming.

Update - £120 awarded after another few calls with BT. Happy with that. Thanks BT

Got back from my ride this evening to find a distressed Mrs S. The electricity in the house had tripped out at the main RCD, but none of the MCBs and kept in doing so whenever she tried switching it back on. It's done this before, but last time it was the boy's air-conditioning unit and the time before an outside security light. This time no obvious culprit.

Anyhoo, switched off all the MCBs, put the RCD back on and then switched the MCBs back on one by one. It's now working - apart from the Boiler, the MCB is switched on, but the boiler has no power. I suspect the MCB on the boiler circuit is dodgy, it's happened once before and if you jiggle the MCB about it comes back on.

She's far closer to my age than my young un's, yet she appeals to tweenies and adolescent more than anyone else.
