Every time I walk to the dentist I can't help myself from stopping to look at the remains of the Roman Bathhouse. Mind boggling that they were building things near where I live 2000 years ago that are still there, when tenement buildings from 100 years ago are demolished and forgotten about.

Well, they mostly wielded the whips while their slaves did the building  :-\

Not from any religious aspect but the tour of the Vatican and St Peter's Basilica was quite unbelievable in a good way and info overload

Quote from: Matt2112 on October 10, 2025, 02:21:13 PMHamit Coskun, who burned a Koran in a protest outside the Turkish Embassy, during which he was attacked with a knife by an Islamist, has had his conviction for "religiously motivated harassment, alarm or distress" overturned on appeal.

Apart from true justice being served, that's a very welcome and encouraging slamming shut of a blasphemy back door on this occasion.

Well, that wasn't enough for the CPS, who astonishingly appealed this acquittal, so this case had another trip on a legal merry-go-round.

The good news is that this second attempt to enforce a de facto blasphemy law has just been rejected by the High Court.  Of course, it shouldn't have come to this, and it's embarrassing for a liberal, democratic, non-theocratic nation that it ever did.

Despite a touch of manflu, I dragged myself out of bed early and got tickets for the Bon Hertzen Brothers 25th Anniversary show in Helsinki - complete with Orchestra and Choir :)

Mikko told me after their London show last year to keep the 10th of October free.

Some things just hit the spot last night. Didn't enjoy the Pratt in the hat though.
