Never seen Squeeze and have no desire to.
I have seen Glenn Tilbrook's solo act, just him and his guitar in Chesterfield many years ago. He came and stood on our table for a bit, stood on everyone's table. Was surprisingly enjoyable.

Quote from: Matt2112 on August 01, 2025, 11:25:54 PMSqueeze tonight at The Piece Hall - a gig I uhmmed and aaahd about originally but when a seat came up in the 11th row I went for it.

Glad I did - they were terrific and Glenn Tilbrook is a class act.

Full review will be in the Gigs thread, along with the other two I need to catch up on (Simple Minds and Human League).

I always liked Squeeze. They were the acceptable face of pop to those who attended discos and begged the DJ all night to play something heavy, although even a token song rarely happened. Maybe the odd Quo single, but Squeeze and a couple of other bands managed to get a few Wrangler jackets on the dance floor.

Is standing on a table a Sassenach description of standing at, or did he literally stand on them like at Oktoberfest?

He literally stood on it. He walked round the room from table to table. This was in pre mobile phone days so unfortunately I can only supply my memory.

Just euthanised a wasp that had got into the house with my tennis racket-shaped electrocutor. Very easy. Probably very quick. There was a certain whiff of burning insect, but that probably occurred post-mortem.

That's impressive. Must be Taser quality. I usually find with mine a bluebottle needs two or three zaps. I hate that smell.

I was originally going to post in the Annoyance thread, as a couple of days of mild to moderate 'trots' seemed to have timed itself impeccably for start of my jollies; but things weirdly settled considerably as soon as I started driving to the airport, almost as if my formerly frequent visits to the crapper were stress-related. :)

Chris Martin has played a gig at The Puzzle Hall Inn in Sowerby Bridge,  about 4 miles from where I live.

Fortunately, I'm 1,866 miles away on a sun-blessed Greek island.

At the start of Look North tonight I saw a clip of a bloke who couldn't sing plonking away on a Piano. Why's this news? I thought. Then I remembered this.  :(

A boat trip from Rhodes Town to Symi Island and back, which came within realistic shouting distance of the (stunning) south coast of Turkey.

Nigh-on perfect from start to finish.
