My day has been made by actually seeing myself on Steve Hackett's new Albert Hall release. Not been to many filmed concerts, but this is the first time I've made a proper appearance, it's at 1:01:07 FWIW

One of the upstairs rooms had a horrible, many times emulsioned, anaglypta ceiling. I've been putting off doing something about it for years.

Yesterday I started to strip wallpaper from the walls. Horrible, slow, mind numbingly boring work. Rather than continue with it today, something told me to have a go at the ceiling. I caught a loose corner inside a high cupboard and began to tease the strip off.

 To my amazement and delight the entire strip started to fall from the ceiling with hardly any effort. The next row, same thing. Same with the next. I stripped the entire ceiling of about 16 square metres in less than five minutes. I'm still hoping that I'm not asleep just now having dreamt the entire episode.

I was pottering about on Arturia Analog Lab today and found an arpeggiated sound that I liked. I messed around with it for a while and came up with a rough version of a verse to a song. Alfie, my sister's dog was lying at the front door, bored because the Emirates flight had already passed, but he started to sing. I was really surprised. Until now he's only ever reacted to the harmonica, but he gave it laldy to the synth sound. BGT beckons I think.

Had a wonderful day today.
This weekend is the Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) at RAF Fairford, Glos. Me and the wife are quite into aircraft but never attend the show as the tickets are quite expensive and the traffic is usually an absolute nightmare over RIAT weekend. So we decided to cycle out to Fairford to try and catch some of the planes practising their displays for the show tomorrow. Never done it before so no real expectations.
The ride over is around 18 or so miles from Witney so I guessed we would take around 90 mins on the MTBs. We took some lunch in rucksacks and set off around 11:00am. We took quiet roads as much as possible and in exactly one and a half hours we found ourselves at the western end of the runway. At the time an F-16 was doing it's thing and I was amazed at what a great view we had of its display routine, very close.......and very loud! Of course the area was, unsurprisingly, packed with plane spotters with cameras equipped with huge lenses.
We spent three hours in our prime spot and enjoyed display run-throughs by a number of aircraft including a brace of Spitfires, Red Arrows, F-18, F-35 and a few helicopters too. All for nowt!
Our ride home included a stop at The Swan, Southrup, The Mason's Arms, Clanfield and our favourite Witney watering hole, The Crafty Pint.
Our total mileage was bang on 40 miles, which brings us to over 100 miles this week (mostly on road bikes). A great day. It sure beats working!

Squeeze tonight at The Piece Hall - a gig I uhmmed and aaahd about originally but when a seat came up in the 11th row I went for it.

Glad I did - they were terrific and Glenn Tilbrook is a class act.

Full review will be in the Gigs thread, along with the other two I need to catch up on (Simple Minds and Human League).

I never saw Squeeze though I've been a fan since 1984. I saw Glenn's solo act - I think it was just artist + acoustic guitar - at Canary Wharf about 26 years ago. Very handy, just a two minute walk from my place of work. He kept making jokes about how old he was.
