Just had old mahogany floors sanded and sealed in two upstairs bedrooms this week. They were old dance floors reclaimed in the 1950s when materials were still scarce after the war. They have always been carpeted and I wondered over the years what they would clean up like.

The result is quite amazing. Another unexpected feature which won't last for long is the natural reverb in one of the rooms. As it doesn't have fitted cupboards like the other room, with plastered walls and no curtains, the way it plays with sound is startling. Even flicking the light switch goes on and on, and the slightest whisper is incredible. I wish I had the space to keep it like this as it would be great fun to record certain things in. If only I had a twelve string acoustic. I think it would be fantastic. (Edit: If someone else played it).

What I get from this, is that it is a fantastic excuse to get a 12 string acoustic.

I've had a very good experience with Amazon too lately. I ordered a copy of Springsteen's Nebraska on vinyl for £22.07 delivered to the BP garage up the road. I would normally opt to get it delivered to the Amazon locker in the same location but Amazon told me all the nearby lockers were full. This is the first time I've chosen for a package to be sent to the garage itself.
After receiving an email to tell me that the order had been cancelled and I would get a refund, I was sent another to tell me it was out for delivery. After logging into my orders on the Amazon site, I discovered the refund was given because the delivery was late. I've now been informed it is ready for collection. The refund has been processed so the record is free courtesy of Amazon!

Apart from true justice being served, that's a very welcome and encouraging slamming shut of a blasphemy back door on this occasion.

Put on the out of office for a long weekend away. Leaving tomorrow afternoon, returning on Monday. Even though I am still not walking as I should, we are going to the other side of the country for some real fresh air in the woods. The wife's birthday on Saturday as well, an excellent opportunity to avoid visitors.
