I wonder if there's something about being the "nearly" royal offspring. The younger sibling of the heir to the throne. The "spare".

You might think that Anne bucked that trend, but she wasn't the next in line after Andrew was born and she was only nine.

I used to be ambivalent about the monarchy but with the way the UK is heading I think I'd rather we hung onto as much of our culture as possible. I'll just need to learn to accept the Act of Settlement is part of that.

Looking around the European Royal families, that Norwegian little prick of a prince, your Andrew, that Belgian moron, and maybe we should not mention the Spanish at all..

Meanwhile our Crown Princess completed her military training and our queen was in the news today. She has enlisted as reservist and started her training as well, at age 54..

Still no fan of Royal houses but we could have done a lot worse.
