Cracking game between PSG and Villa last night. This PSG team are fantastic to watch, far better in my view than when they had all the Galacticos in their midst.  Villa defended brilliantly all night and even went ahead despite the onslaught they faced.  It took 3 excellent wonder goals to put PSG in charge of the tie. The second, in particular, took my breath away (from the unpronounceable Georgian).

The Villa goal does mean that the tie is not over though and Villa Park will be a special place next Tuesday. I think PSG will do it though.

One of the most remarkable managers in Dutch football (and Spain, Mexico and more than a handful of other countries) has died.
"Don" Leo Beenhakker - I remember him well. As Dutch as you can find them, never lost for words. Salt of the earth, 100% self-made man.

RIP Don Leo, thanks for getting Feyenoord the league title in '98, the team you were destined to lead being born a few km from the stadium in the South of Rotterdam.

BBC site claiming that "Despite another defeat, Manchester United are safe".

That is not strictly true. Yes, it's hard to imagine Ipswich winning most of their remaining games, or indeed the other circumstances that would result in United being relegated. Nonetheless, five games remaining and still not mathematically assured of staying up. Astonishing.

Just one point from their last 2 games will see Barnet playing league football again.

Dean Brennan is proving to be an excellent manager at this level. I can see him and the team transitioning to league football pretty well especially if Tony Kleanthous continues to invest in the team.

With planning permission being sought for a return to the town, things are really looking up for the Bees!

Losing the 16th vs 17th Premier League play-off tonight has put the copper lid on a shocking season for United. Even so it looks probable that Postecoglou will go. I wonder if Amorim will go as well? Must be likely, the United board will feel that they made a mistake keeping Ten Hag on after last season and won't want to repeat the mistake.

Amorin didn't want to take the reins mid-season he wanted to take over when he had a full pre-season to work with and buy his sort of player.

Losing tonight makes finding the right player a lot more difficult. United look less attractive with no Champions League on offer and with no European football, revenues will be much lower. Revenue seems to be a key factor for Ratcliffe so tough times ahead but Amorin will surely be granted his wish.
