Feyenoord still going strong in the league, after a 0-7 (!) away game today firmly leading with 25 points out of 9 games with 25 goals scored and only 6 against. 1 draw, that's the only 2 points we lost.

Our topscorer, Japanese national team striker Ayase Ueda, has now 11 goals scored in 9 games.

So far this season is looking good.

Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton all promoted from the Championship last season - and will all likely be relegated from the Premiership this time.

22/23 season - promoted from the Championship: Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United and all relegated 23/24 season.

Is this to become the norm? With the 3 teams promoted immediately get relegated the next season.

Fair to describe it as a norm I guess, but at the same time it's to be expected that some promoted teams will make it stick. Forest did well to cling on after their first season back up, but they're flying now.

Forest certainly aren't flying now, but looking at the league table one of this season's promoted sides (Sunderland) is fourth after nine games .. highly likely they'll stay up. Neither Burnley nor Leeds is in the bottom three at the moment but they're hovering just above it.

That was a very entertaining evening!  3 spectacular goals and plenty of jepoardy.

It was the main news item on Radio 4 at 7am and was covered extensively in the sports news at half seven.

I don't want to sound curmedgeonly or anything but not one commentator or expert (including Pat Nevin and a whole host of others) mentioned the sending off, which did have quite a significant impact on the game!

I was indignant when I heard Moyes defending the blue on blue violence last night - there's no excuse for hitting one of your colleagues in the workplace, which is what I'd been led to believe happened. But having actually watched it back - pretty innocuous, no? I think to describe it as "violence", as one or two commentators have - including Harriet Harman no less - is stretching a point.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be able to play for Portugal in their opening game at next summer's World Cup finals despite his red card against the Republic of Ireland.
Ronaldo, 40, was sent off for an elbow to Dara O'Shea's back during Portugal's 2-0 qualifying defeat earlier this month.
Violent conduct normally carries a three-match ban but Ronaldo has had the second and third matches suspended for a year.

He went off crying like a baby in the Euros final of 2016. Portugal went on to win that, without him. So they finally won something and he wasn't playing.

When I think of Portugal as a team I always think of that game in 2006. 16 yellow and 4 red cards, Netherlands vs Portugal known as the battle of Nuremberg.
