Been down to Oxford for the weekend on the train. Got back to Chesterfield station and went to pay for the Car Parking and a station employee came up to us and said not to bother paying as the barriers were up due to a new ANPR system being installed tomorrow

Result, that £15 saving offsets the cost of a pint and glass of wine in an Oxford pub.

On to day 3 now after my op and the last 2 nights I've slept OK. Even better, I managed to do a number 2 today, the first since Friday. They gave me Lactulose and Senna to help with that, but not achieving much. My wife had bought some tinned prunes, something I've not had since a kid, so had some last night, they were gorgeous and did their job perfectly. What a relief.

I'm still hobbling about but slowly getting more mobile. I have no idea how anyone could cope with this on their own as my wife is doing everything for me.

Flu jab yesterday and no ill effects even my arm isn't sore..

I suppose you are only supposed to drink a glass or so at a time but it really was delicious so I must have downed about half the carton over a short space of time. Oh my goodness! The internal grumbling began shortly afterwards and I'll leave the rest to your imagination. Definitely an in moderation treat.

Mine was last week. A bit of a sore arm but none of the fluey 48 hour aftermath I usually get. I hope those antibodies are multiplying quickly as my jab was later than usual and 'flu cases are soaring.

Seeing a stoat bouncing along in my garden alongside my hedge. We see a fair bit of wildlife (birds, squirrels, rabbits etc.,) here but this is the first time that I have ever seen a stoat. Chuffed.

Whenever Mrs S sees a Stoat in out garden she comes in and says "I've just seen a sausage with legs". Maybe because she's frightened of making a mistake with her Mustelids - it's weasely done.

Second annual visit to the Elland Rex cinema to watch It's A Wonderful Life.

Both the venue and the film have a magical effect on me; this was elevated by the pre-film and interval performance of Christmas tunes on the cinema's centrepiece organ by a superb player, who also brilliantly accompanied the supporting silent Laurel & Hardy short, Big Business. 🙂

Figured I'd treated myself to a little new music, after all it's Christmas. Noticed JD Simo had a new 'surprise' album out a month ago, had not heard it but listened on Tidal and liked it, it's experimental to say the least. So wanted to buy it, digital. Not on Bandcamp, unfortunately. Ended up on 7digital, and they had it. Was about to click BUY for the album price of 9EUR something, when I noticed I could also buy the loose track.
Well, this album is only 1 (36 minute) track and that cost me only 1,89!

It's the little things that make me happy.
