Godspeed You! Black Emperor is featured in this, no?
So it is yes. I didn't know that thanks.

I was rather referring to the music by 'In the House - In a Heartbeat' by John Murphy, also used at the beginning of 28 Weeks Later:

And Godspeed You! Black Emperor - East Hastings from F♯ A♯ ∞:

I can see why it was used for a movie like this, that slow build up...

Final Destination: Bloodlines - Yet another in this long running series of Final Destination movies. It's a great premise of course. People who survived an event when they should have died are picked off by 'death' in the most horrible of ways. I checked out IMDb and it's scoring 6.9/10 - for a horror movie that's excellent. So hopes were high and boy did it deliver.

The first 15-20 minutes are stunning and one of the best starts to a movie I've ever seen. The makers drop hints constantly of things that can go wrong - it's like watching a Health and Safety warning video at times. The term bloodlines refers to the fact the family of people alive now should never have existed as their ancestors should have died. That's the simple idea, but it's executed so well. I find most horror movies these days rather dull and uninspired, but this had me on the edge of the seat quite a few times. You think you know something bad is going to happen then it all twists around and hits you with something else. Some of the deaths are bizarre, shocking and quite horrific. I think the main reason it succeeds is that the makers actually put in the effort (something other horror producers don't do and just go through the old, tired methods that have been done to death). Sure, it won't win any awards, but if you want a decent horror movie that has heart and made by people who care definitely give this a go. 9/10

Bits of Glasto.  Not even worth the effort of the annual 'Glasto Roast' thread I used to do on the old site.

Even Alanis was quite disappointing - she sounded quite pitchy and - not her of her very good band's fault - wasn't blessed with a terribly good mix on the iplayer stream I watched.

Good, though, to see a flag during this set that stated:

"Woman
noun:
Adult Human Female"

A diamond in the waste.

Decided to re watch NYPD Blue, it's up on Prime. Always liked that show.

MaXXXine

The third in Ti West's trilogy after the cracking horror that was X and its underwhelming prequel Pearl.

Unfortunately this sequel to X is very disappointing too; while West superbly reproduces an 80s LA setting and vibe, the film is terribly let down by a very shoddy script and, Kevin Bacon's entertainingly seedy PI aside, lame dialogue.  The change in tone from horror to serial killer noir doesn't help either.

I'd recommend watching X three times rather than all films in the trilogy once.

Rating: **

Couldn't find the stream for Nile Rodgers & Chic, so watched Charli XCX out of curiosity instead.

Lasted about 15 minutes: utter fcking tedious sh!te...like an unintentional Brass Eye parody of Lady Gaga.

Squid Game - Season 3 final. All done now with this excellent series. Not on a par with the shock of season 1 but brilliant nevertheless and a great little addon right at the end. No spoilers of course but very interesting.
