Department Q on Netflix. I like it, but gritty, Scottish (and as far as I can tell quite accurate). Nice show.

Sinners. I've seen a lot of talk about this movie recently and at one point it was scoring over 9 on IMDb. It's at 8 now though, which getting to a more realistic score. Set in 1932 it tells of 2 black brothers returning to the plantations of Mississippi from Chicago to set up a 'Juke' joint. At the opening night all hell breaks loose when sinister forces mount an attack. Impressive that the lead plays both brothers, something I didn't realise at first. There is some great music throughout, but the star of the film, for me, is Jack O'Connell (the mad, Irish Major from SAS: Rogue Heroes) who is perfect as the mad, calm intruder. There is some daft scene at the very end that adds nothing at all to the movie, and really lowers the tone - but it is what it is and I can see why it was put in. I enjoyed it overall and the slow, simmering build up just adds to the tension. 7.5/10

Started on the last season of The Handmaid's Tale last night. Far too many close ups of Moss' face.

Doctor Who

There have been 2 or so very good episodes in the current series, but the finale (Wish World) was perhaps the worst episode yet of modern era Who. There may be others that are worse that I have erased from my memory of course.

I struggled to get to the end. Having grown up with Doctor Who I feel a strange sense of duty that I must watch it. They are making it mightily difficult to do so apart from the odd gem.

Please give it a rest?

Finished Q. very good. Thought it rung a bell, it's a remake of some sorts of the Danish version. I have seen those on Netflix as well, same concept but those are tv movies based on books by Jussi Adler-Olsen. The series take more time, and obviously the setting is different (Scotland vs Denmark).

Equally compelling though. Recommended - both of them.
Just checked, there are 4 Danish movies, can't recall seeing all, must look for them.
