On that basis would a European tour perhaps not be viable if they can't build a multiple date structure. I wonder how the finances would stack up for for 4 x London O2, 2 x NEC or Manchester, 2 x Glasgow Hydro. I don't know what the audience figures are for mainland Europe or if they could condense the shows into two or three countries. How many shows would it take to be profitable?

Wasn't the HYF tour just the UK and Rotterdam?  I'm sure that's what the back of my tour t shirt says...

I think Europe might be a non-starter. I think Clockwork Angels only visited Holland, Germany x2, Sweden and Finland. Very rough and quick mental arithmetic suggests the UK leg only played to about 80,000 people.

The London O2 could handle that number over four nights if folk were willing to travel. The novelty of the occasion might swell that number to a degree, but can a show of that scale travel for four or five dates? I have my doubts and hope to be proved wrong but I feel another apology coming our way after they've banked the final payday.

 I say final, but that's ignoring the beer, mustard, pinball machines, Godin, Fender, Gibson and possibly Epiphone signature guitars, amps, guitar and bass effects pedals, books, book signing tours, side projects, anniversary record releases, a few million tee shirts, baseball caps, hoodies............I think they'll be ok well into their eighties without taking a London bow or four.

Every time they've toured the UK since I was about 18 I've had a sort of irrational fear that I'd miss out, I used to have bad dreams about it. I just don't want the stress but also I don't want the spectacle of seeing old men trying to do what I saw them do brilliantly (usually) as young men many times.

I think they'll play Europe.  I'm not sure they'll wait until 2027, though and I'm not sure how successful an arena tour might be in terms of bums on seats...

Yes, arenas are garbage. They feel like fairgrounds with folk milling around in their thousands buying expensive tat and eating junk food. The Royal Albert Hall would be amazing. I've never been. I have the David Gilmour at the Royal Festival Hall DVD and that looks a great venue too. I was tempted to go and see Peter Hammill there but the hip stopped me. My dream Rush concert would be when I win the Euromillions and hire them to play the Royal Glasgow Concert Hall. You'd all be welcome! Steven Wilson there recently was the best concert sound I have ever experienced and I was right at the back, way up high. Mind you I'm surprised everyone attending wasn't high with the amount of weed smoke in the foyer at the interval.

IF a U.K. leg happens then I think it will be no more than three venues - Glasgow Hydro (where they've never before played), Manchester Co-Op (where they've never before played) and London O2, with only London possibly hosting two nights.

And as a frothing, swivel-eyed fanboi, I'd go to all of them.

Absolutely. If they don't play in Arenas, tickets are under £100 and all the signs are that they can still do it.
