I think when the dust finally settles, Derek McInnes' behaviour during the week prior to this game should be examined.

Celtic fans appeared resigned to the fact that Hearts were going to win the title. They had even accepted that this was going to happen at Celtic Park, not an easy watch for any supporter, but the feeling was, well, at least it's not Rangers.

However, the Hearts manager went full tonto about a penalty decision in a match his team was not involved in. He called the decision "disgusting" calling into question the integrity of Scottish officials.

This lit an unnecessary fuse. Videos appeared online of McInnes singing a sectarian song whilst a Rangers player. An uneasy tension started to build and by the Saturday a full-on venomous atmosphere was in place.

I believe that atmosphere contributed to Hearts' downfall. It's now just history.

A lengthy article, but unlike most of the pieces on the BBC news site this doesn't carry a journalist's name. I don't understand that.

Got it. Maeda was in an offside position but irrelevant as the ball was not passed to him. Onside when he received the ball. I thought offside was also about 'interfering with play' (when the ball is passed forward) - no?
They've messed around with offside so much and I've not really been paying attention.

Just a thought - What if Osmand had 'dummied' and the ball ended up at Maeda's feet and he scored. Offside, even if the intended pass was for Osmand? I guess, because it's about receiving the ball rather than the intention of the passer, the goal would've been disallowed.

Anyway it looks like Spurs will survive, now. For them to go down West Ham would have to win their last game against Leeds, and Spurs would have to be beaten by Chelsea tomorrow, then Everton on Sunday.

I suppose it's possible.

I've never commented on Arsenal on here for fear of the jinx element. Arsenal were my boyhood English team. My local street team played in the Arsenal colours and we did quite well.

I really admired Peter Marinello although he never really delivered on his potential in London. Same applied to Charlie Nicholas. One of the most talented players ever to grace a football pitch but again, didn't hit the heights he should have.

Strange recollection, but the day of the 1971 FA Cup final I was playing football at our local pitch. Our team were wearing our Arsenal strips. A guy appeared from nowhere cutting across the field as a shortcut. Our best player John, a couple of years older than the rest asked the trespasser who he wanted to win the final. Bold as brass he calmly stated Liverpool.

John challenged him to a fight based on his response. John was tough and wiry but the guy was up for it. It seemed to go on forever until they both seemed to settle on a draw. It was quite scary for younger guys like me being only 11.

My forever memory was the Liverpool guy being in a headlock with John and being given the rapids. Small, fast punches to the head. The days when fighting was civilised and nobody got their head kicked in.

That's another story. That was a very bad evening.
