Wow! A bit ott there Nick. In his first full season as a professional at 18 he won the Tour De L'Avenir, a race open to the U 23s. He also finished 8th in the Criterium De Dauphine and became the youngest rider ever to finish in the top 10 at that event

Now19 he's already won the Faun Ardeche and now finishes 2nd in a World Class field in the Strade Bianche.

Like it or not this lad is a serious cyclist.

What was Kelly's reasoning that he would have been better off not doing his best in that race?

Look if the French want to go gaga over him that's fine, but I don't want my British coverage taken up with some juvenile froggo whom the French press are building up as the second coming.

King Kelly wanted him to not do well as the French press will now put too much pressure on him. Every recent French second coming in cycling has burned brightly and faded rapidly.

Surprised Dopage hasn't reared its head yet, especially as his DS at Decathlon is Luke Rowe from the discredited Team SKY.

Best bit of yesterday's race was when after miles of ignoring Sexasses pleas to do a turn Del Toro came to the front and slowed down to have a snack. Class.

Learning experience for him perhaps. He is just 19 after all.

He will need to develop a thick skin and a huge degree of mental strength but the raw material is definitely there (as long as it has not been artificially enhanced of course)

Sun may have been out, but the environs of Paris pale against yesterday's Tuscan hills. I think I must have lived in Tuscany in a former life, or, maybe it's because I went to Birmingham University where the Chamberlain Tower is modelled on Siena's Torre del Mangia.

Meanwhile Elisa Longho Borghini put aside yesterday's disappointment and won the Trofeo Oro in Euro. Puck Pieterse in fifth.

I imagine that with him being the bright young hope of French cycling, everything he says will be broadcast throughout the cycling World.

Perhaps he can be taught to keep his counsel a little more. Then again if he has the cojones to cope with anything that comes his way and piss a few off on the way, let him at it

I know I probably annoy you as I generally only appear on here to crow about French cycling succcess (prob why I'm not on here too often) and you enjoy the sport of cycling much more than I do but I have to quote the headline from Sean Kelly's column in Cycling News:-

The French have had some great talents over the years, and it's usually the way the teams are managed (and in doing so, the riders) that make them not come to full fruition.

I am reading that the fun Will be over soon though: He is in negotiations with UAE.
So, while UAE might be good for Seixas, it's bad for overall competition.

Yes, I've heard UAE want another super domestique for Pogi.

Ineos are also sniffing, they've got new investment incoming and Dave Brailsford wanted to bring on the next French TdF champion with Team SKY after Wiggo won it. The French didn't want a winner riding for a British team though.
