Running an AI Image Generator On Your Own PC

As an experiment I've installed one of the popular AI image generators on my own Linux box. Because my GPU only has 4G graphics memory, I'm having to operate it under some fairly severe limitations: I can only set it to generate relatively small images, I've had to use older Stable Diffusion 1.5-based models that will tolerate the available resources with modest config parameters and the results are nowhere near as sophisticated as you'd expect from better hardware.

I'm using a web front end called AUTOMATIC1111. A web-based "control panel", if you will.

It's very slow. I certainly can't recommend doing it for practical reasons since there are online services that will do it better and much faster for free, but it's been an educational experiment. I've used three different models: Realistic Vision V6.0, Deliberate v2 and Anything v5. Below are the results from the prompt "Mister Spock at the controls of a starship" from each respectively.

You can do porn as well, on two of the models. Perhaps I'll post a couple in the NSFW section.

Ooh I'll bite! I didn't know you could do it locally.

So, I followed the instructions on this page:
https://allthings.how/how-to-set-up-local-ai-image-generation-on-your-pc-with-fooocus/

Then using the "generic" model, and James' prompt from the above post ("Mister Spock at the controls of a starship"), it generated 2 images:

Here is the output from the Anime model:

Finally these are from the "Realistic" model:

Very good results Reg! Looks like your GPU has a bit more resources than mine (although if I wasn't running two 4K monitors I'd have a bit more to spare).
