Very well done.

Ever since I went to an Escher exhibition when I was 11 I have been fascinated by his work. The mix of surrealism and optical illusions get me every time.

This is a good one. The centre square on the top is exactly the same colour, on your monitor, as the centre square facing the viewer.

^ That's mad. To prove it I used freeform snipping tool to cut out just those squares and yup exactly the same  :o :o

I used the GIMP to copy and paste a little sample out of the square on the top and as I dragged it down the image .. it appears to change colour. Wild. But in reality it doesn't, it's exactly the same colour.

Here's another one on the same principle: the A and B squares are the same colour as well.

There is no red colour information in this image. Every pixel is either greyscale or cyan (turquoise blue)

Why do some of the vertical lines appear pink when enlarged or is that part of the phenomenon?

I assume the effect is lessened when you zoom in.

This kind of thing eats me up. I need to know what my rods and cones are playing at at all times. Dark matter mocks us with a permanent flipped finger as we open our eyes each day. What else are we missing?

I do not believe dark matter subscribes to the human way of thinking - you are mocking yourself. Which is normal, humans like to pass off behaviour as 'human' even when it apples to animals or non loving things.

That's the biggest illusion we pull on ourselves.
