I've a digital copy but I'll await the Blu Ray/Vinyl before a full listen.

Your digital copy will sound better than the vinyl but if you really prefer it that way, notch the treble down a bit and throw a blanket over your speakers.

LP I listen to over the speakers, digital solely on headphones. So they sound vastly different anyway. It's not a contest for me though.

Digital sounds better than vinyl (very low bitrates aside) - but you can approximate that compromised vinyl sound by muffling it a bit if it's your thing, so you won't have to wait.

I bought Wilson's last album "The Harmony Codex" on blu ray for the multiple formats. Super album, I'm in the digital camp but what I find more of a challenge is what version do I enjoy the most? hi-res stereo, atmos, 5.1? I don't have some super high end stereo system just a Sonos system. Maybe I just don't have the time/lifespan to assess the answer, maybe it was better with just one version on vinyl. Looking forward to the new album tomorrow, for sure the production will be amazing.

To my ears vinyl generally sounds better than digital, but whatever floats your boat.

It definitely sounds different, but it's objectively less accurate. In all seriousness you could probably get close to that sound with EQ and putting things in front of your speakers.

My lad and I went in to Preston city centre earlier for the Steven Wilson signing tour at Action Records. Quite a big turn out and we arrived at the back of a queue which built while we waited. A really slick operation by the staff though who had all the pre-orders ready to go. So I got the mint green LP signed for me and the Blu ray for my son and his fiancée. Steven came across really well and was happy to have a brief chat, just long enough but not too much to make it drag for others waiting. I just missed The Harmony Codex signing so was pleased to make it this time.

For a moment there I wanted to run up and stare at my speakers,hoping for a young SW to hoover over the record player. Alas, only on the cd and the download I think. Nice gimmick for sure.

I recall the 'hidden' tracks on cds in the 90s. I even have one or two Motorpsycho cds that have music preceding track 1, you have to hit the 'rewind' button on the cd player to get to it. Fun times.

As there's a few gaps in my SW back catalogue, I had a quick peek at the setlist from last night. A wee bit of swotting up required but not a huge amount.

There have been discussions on the site previously about musicians writing poorer quality material as they grow older and run out of ideas and inspiration. I think The Overview reverses that theory entirely. It's a work of art.
