Greg Wallace. I think it's a bit rich for spiky-haired, pint-sized, croaky warbler Rod Stewart to complain about Wallace's behaviour towards his wife when he's been asking for years, "do ya think I'm sexy?".

Thank you. The "ing" thing is a real fuse lighter for me. I have this overwhelmingly paranoid sense of those in power, in broadcasting and elsewhere, laughing at anyone with a shred of appreciation for traditional values. I wonder how it will all turn out.

I just don't see a problem there - who cares who narrated it, especially in the context of an ongoing genocide? The report actually says that "there is no evidence to support the suggestion that the narrator's father or family influenced the content of the programme in any way".

If it's misleading, fine but to be complaining about the identity of a relative of the narrator is ridiculous.

It's yet another apology over a "significant failing" from the guy who runs the show and he should know about BBC guidelines, well.............

Apparently John Torode was sacked after singing along to Kanye West's Gold Digga at an after work gathering several years ago (it has an obvious rhyming couplet).

Context and nuance is everything and it seems the BBC hasn't realised this for a long time.

Here's a personal anecdote: a number of years ago a big, black, muscular ex-professional rugby league player was the landlord of a pub local to me.  On karaoke one night he got up to "sing" that very same song, its lyrics unexpurgated on the screen as far as I remember (and yes it's more "rapped" than "sung").

He invited me up to join him, and while I was of course naturally hesitant to say the word, especially into a microphone for all to hear, he performed it as the song intended and didn't seem the slightest bit perturbed when I did the same.

So Torode's sacking strikes me as absurd.
