Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man  This was slightly disappointing for a few reasons. Firstly, it just felt different to the excellent TV show - hard to explain why really, just it had a strange vibe. Next, character development; this is what the show was heavily based upon, and here there are very few known characters left and the new ones are way too shallow to offer us much or raise the film to something that we see in the TV show. It's too short - I know, I know I always moan about movies being too long but this would really have benefitted from a longer run time - in fact another TV series would have covered this whole story line so much better. The music: there was way too much, not background music but rock tracks ands as much as I like Fontaines DC I could do without several of their songs playing to slo-mo shots of Tommy.

That all sounds a bit harsh though a bit of Peaky Blinders is always welcome, but overall this is a let down. Some good elements of course: Barry Keoghan was excellent playing Tommy's son. So too was Tim Roth as the unassuming British Nazi and some of the actions scenes were very well done. 5/10

Couple of episodes into The Pitt season 1.

Cold Storage - a comedy/horror with a strangely decent cast (Joe Keery, Leslie Manville, Liam Neeson and Vanessa Redgrave). It's a cheesy story about a fungus that takes over people's brains, but is actually based on a serious novel by David Koepp. It's actually pretty good and I did laugh quite a lot, with enough horror to create the odd scare and gross effects. Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen - A horror describing the events leading up to a wedding. It's super creepy and there is a pervasive dread running through it and it really does feel it's heading to something awful. I'm only 2 episodes in with 6 to go. It's very dark, like literally hard to see what's happening at times, but good though. We'll see how it progresses.

The Naked Gun (2025)

I expected a bit of cheap Friday late night fun from this, but it's actually a total delight.

Everything about this is perfectly pitched, whether in its sense of fond homage to the original trilogy, the gags which almost always hit the bullseye and are often laugh-out-loud funny and razor-sharp, or the performances from Liam Neeson and, in particular, Pamela Anderson, who is a comic revelation.

Surely the best comedy of 2025.

Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen - We finished this tonight. How best to sum this up? The first 3 episodes really give little indication as to what's to come. It starts with a feeling like Get Out, in that the family of our soon-to-be married couple have something really sinister going on. But the whole tone changes as we begin to find out what is actually happening. From then it's a build up to the wedding itself. If a TV show's title best describes what it's about, then this one sits at top of that list - it's mad. The acting is top notch and the cinematography is awesome as the camera pans in all directions. There also seems to be scenes that go on for a long time without cuts - and that takes some doing, and it really adds to the building trepidation. All the music sits perfectly with the scenes too and the makers have made a real effort to pick the most appropriate tunes. The dialogue seems almost improvised at timed as it feels so natural, but it's most likely due to the great script and the actors themselves raising the bar.

I really liked this show and it's very well made. There are some slow moments, but for me these just help to build the sense of dread. And I loved the unexpected ending too. 9/10
