Finished off Slow Horses S 5.. was ok not one of the best seasons I think..

Finished Alien: Earth. Pretty good all round. I can understand why Alien geeks may not like it but I quite enjoyed the story and the way it was executed. Episode 5 was like a mini Alien movie in its own right. All in all 8/10 and a 9/10 for ep5.

Oh yes - we watched Fountain Of Youth last Saturday. Directed by Guy Ritchie with plenty of action. John Krasinski is great and clearly enjoying himself but the weak link here is Natalie Portman. Not her fault I think, but woeful miscasting.

This Saturday we will try Last Breath.

In recent times we've had Samuel L. Jackson at the Piece Hall for the filming of Avengers series Secret Invasion and only the other week Danny Boyle was in Sowerby Bridge making his next film, Ink, about the rise of Rupert Murdoch.

Series 2 of Peacemaker. It was a bit nervous about starting this as the first season was so good I had reservations. But no need to worry. This is as funny/crude/violent as the first. I don't think I've seen as much nudity in a single episode of any TV show as ep01 - basically an orgy at Peacemaker's house. John Cena just oozes charisma and the rest of the cast are pretty much perfect for this. I think there are moments of improv too, but that just adds to the whole vibe of the show. I just love this.

The Green Knight

Writer/director David Lowery's take on the epic poem Sir Gawain And The Green Knight (an abandoned Rush project, of course) is a huge let-down after his excellent A Ghost Story.

There's the same style of long, languorous takes, but where in that latter film it worked perfectly, in this it only contributes to a pretty boring experience.

It's wilfully strange and slow and the sort of arty film that critics seem obliged to lavish with praise on that basis alone, as if there are deep and profound themes at work, but which splits general audiences down the middle - the disparity in its Rotten Tomatoes score is ample evidence of that.

Unfortunately, while it's often remarkable visually and the cast is very good, I found myself in the camp of finding it massively underwhelming.
