What's in/on Your DVD/VCR/PVR etc

I watched the Christmas 1974 Dad's Army, entitled Turkey Dinner. I think I last saw it some time in the '00s. First shown on BBC1 50 years ago tomorrow night. It was on BBC2 tonight.

What gets me is that the events depicted had only happened about 30 years before it was made. People watching in 1974 would remember the war like we remember the first half of the '90s.

Just watched the old UFO episode The Square Triangle. Some UFO episodes have silly plot contrivances or inconsistencies. Not this one. Very clever, dark story.

Movies watched over the festive season:

Heretic - A horror movie with Hugh Grant. A great start but went downhill a bit later on. 2 young religious girls get trapped by an anti-religious nutter in his house during a storm. Worth a watch though 7/10

Little Bone Lodge - 2 criminals seek refuge at a remote Scottish property where a mother and her daughter live with the disabled husband. It heads in a totally unexpected direction and the twist is a good one. Nicely acted and some decent jumps near the end. Recommended 8/10

Gladiator II - I wasn't overly fond of the original despite it's positive reviews. This one isn't great tbh. The action scenes are decent but it's way, way too long and the story is quite weak (I could never watch something this long and drab in a cinema). The 2 Emperors were the best thing in it. 4/10

I as going to wait until Silo had fully dropped before starting. But, we couldn't wait any longer and watched just one episode last night. Season 2 finishes 17 Jan 25, so we'll have to ration ourselves lol. A great show.

Conclave - Not the type film we normally watch but this one turned out to be quite good. After the death of the Pope all the Cardinals meet up to select a new one - hence the movie's title. A great cast and a good story made the 2 hours fly by. It's full of twists and turns with an ending that no one could ever foresee and a real jaw-dropping moment. 8/10

Watched Crimes and Misdemonours- great Woody Allen film with this pearl of a quote bemoaning his love life - "The last woman I was inside was the Statue of Liberty"

I love Woody Allen. I suppose he won't be with us much longer. I've never actually seen that film but funnily enough I was thinking about it a few days ago when I revisited an outdoor space in Derby where I remember reading a review of it in a newspaper.

Isn't it odd that something as innocuous as that can stay in your memory for decades?

I might assign myself a project to watch the later Woody Allen films that I've missed out on so far.
