Quote from: David L on June 10, 2025, 08:20:41 PMCurrently sat with a bunch of like-minded vinylistas at our local vinyl night. First up......Donald Fagen - The Nightfly. I've heard this once or twice before, about 40 years ago.
Jazzy, funky, great playing and a superb recording. Liking it!

Ironically this is a digital recording. And it sounds great I agree.
Indeed it is but we have our dearly-beloved MP to prove how great digital recordings can sound when mastered for vinyl and cut and pressed with care  ;)

And now onto the second choice of the evening:

Peter Gabriel - So

"Oh, for the wings of any bird other than a Battery hen."

And watching the new Arjen Lucassen single. Well..it clocks in at 14:41 and is made up from 7 acts. Not sure whether that's still a single..but I like it. Bit of a Lucassen fanboy to be honest and this is from his forthcoming solo album Songs No One Will Hear

Anyway if you have 15 mins to spare and enjoy Arjen's style, check it out:

What do you think? It's on my back burner for a play but not got round to it yet. I sort of stopped listening to TMV after Amputechture  as I found Bedlam to be disappointing.

I like it but it's quite different to what they did before. It's a bot more psychdelic and dreamy. Also, you should listen to it on one go like a stretched out song. The 2 previous ones (the last one was largely an acoustic interpretation of its' predecessor) are worth it but they are just short songs. This one feels like they are extending their catalogue.
