This is fantastic - I suppose you can get the subtitles in English. Like cycling? Think you're OK at it? Watch this..and think again :-)

He rides the edges of his country. And as he looks, the land looks back at him.

'Hier In De Zon' lies a journey of more than 1,900 kilometers. But this movie is not about distance or time. It is about seeing. About how The Netherlands - the country we think we know - changes when it slowly rolls out from beneath you, hour after hour, day after day. And how that same land shapes you, touches you, mirrors you, and now and then forces you to pause.

We follow former professional cyclist Laurens ten Dam through quiet, dew-soaked mornings, deep dark nights, and sun-drenched afternoons. As he moves forward, his path crosses with the lives of others: the oyster fisherman in the tide, the captain on the ferry, a group dancing at a jazz festival, the farmer crossing his fields. Some encounters become conversations; others remain passing glances. In those crossings, the story takes shape.

It is a quest of the serenity found when you are exactly where you belong - here. A country that reshapes itself when you traverse it slowly - from Texel to Amerongen to Pernis. And it is a portrait of everyone who lived, worked, watched, or paused for a brief moment along the route during the endless summer of 2025.
