The way AI used is sometimes puzzling to me. I do it myself as well. Most people use it as a luxury version of a search machine, and I get that.
I use Perplexity and Gemini. Perplexity for the more lenghty 'deep dives' and research. I have used it extensively on family history research. Gemini is more everyday use.

But really what AI was designed to do is to not just be a search engine deluxe, it goes a lot further than that. And the worry to me is far more than an AI telling you a product you'd like to have is available when it is not.
AIs are being trained to take over decision making processes in the military industry, there's research being done on medical applications - the latter all very noble, but how far are we away from having an AI decide whether you, as a human being, are worth a certain procedure?

I always thought I would not live to see this, but the frightening speed this is going with I am not so sure now.
