Still not putting my dental adventures in grumpy, but today was a particularly nasty visit. 2 were taken out, left upper jar, and especially the one at the back was an ordeal. Spent another hour in the chair and when it came out finally (it broke in pieces of course) the cemented root was black from infection.
No wonder it hurt.

So now healing up, and extra painkillers because this is possibly the most painful dental intervention I had so far.

Back on the chair next Wednesday for more adventures.

Flying out to Naples today it was clear over the Alps and I could see over to Andalo where I learned to ski.

Mrs S was sceptical but I have proved it with a photo and Google maps.

Oh dear, Nop, what a terrible day. I was feeling sorry for myself tonight feeling a bit fluey after my shingles booster jab this morning, but nothing compared to your miserable time. Hope the pain subsides soon.

What made my day two days back now - where does the time go? Was seeing Opeth in Pompeii.

I've seen Death Metal in the Halls of Culture - the Albert Hall - and now a Roman Ampitheatre, quite surreal in a way, but when it goes dark you could be anywhere. It was worth it.
Halifax Piece Hall? Not quite the same...

More dentistry! An unexpected filling, one molar that was to be crowned, was pulled, and one molar has now been nominated and prepared to be crowned.

Back next week, for a final round of demolition before the build up starts.

Forgot all about what made my day last Friday.

Whilst wandering round Pompeii I impressed an American woman and her sons with my command of Latin

It was outside the house labelled up as that of Cecilio Giocondo, but I know him better as Lucius Caecilius Iucundus, star of the Cambridge School Latin course

The woman thought a mosaic in the doorway was a deer, I told her that it was most certainly a Canis. A canis called Cerberus, a bad dog who was jumping on the table of food. Now I didn't quite nail the whole text from memory, but I think I was close:

coquus est in culina. coquus in colina dormit. Cerberus intrat. Cerberus circumspectat. cibus est in mensa. canis salit. canis in mensa stat. Grumio stertit. canis latrat. Grumio surgit. coquus est iratus. "pestus! furcifer!" coquus clamat. Cerberus exit.

All said in the voice of my Latin Teacher too.

It took me some time after leaving school to stop writing A.M.D.G in the top left margin of every page in every piece of work written in all subjects. Ad maiorem Dei gloriam. I got the odd strange look when I slipped up at work. I must have made that inscription thousands of times over a five year period. Stays with you that kind of thing. Muscle and spiritual memory I suppose.
