Excellent, that also suits the Russians who can concentrate on levelling half of Syria instead.
I suppose we'll be told we're supporting the 'rebels' in that one.
Shush! Don't mention ISIS  ;D

Heard an interview with a humanitarian chap on Radio 4 during the commute home today who was asked which group in Syria we in the West should support.

"There's a really easy answer to that:", he replied, "the Syrian people".

I'm assuming that if he was alluding to western governments he was having a bit of a joke there.

Don't know what the motivation is but whether it's Covid or Ukraine, Boris now seems desperate to get things out in the open. Here he is putting the record straight and contradicting Zelensky on who exactly scuppered the peace deal in 2019. I guess proxy wars are never straightforward affairs.

What he actually said was that Ukraine's nationalists "wouldn't accept the compromise" in 2019, which I don't really find particularly controversial given that they weren't the source of the conflict, and I strongly suspect that the 2022 invasion would have occurred in any case.

That's exactly what he said and not that the 'diplomacy' failed because Putin went back on his word - which is what Zekensky told the world when he was at The White House.
Boris has had a truth serum  ;D

Stunning. Serious degradation of Russia's air power.

^ I said to my wife last week that I thought Ukraine were planning something big. I'll wager there will be something else coming soon.

Bloody Ukrainian acts of Terrorism  >:(

(That was sarcasm by the way)

I never post on this, I have my thoughts but I usually sy away from sharing them. However on the above:

This feels a lot like a Russian smear campaign that is a long time in the making. Especially since there is a perfect storm scenario happening:
Russia and the USA are drafting a 28 point plan for Ukraine's surrender (they are calling it a peace deal). This deal includes giving up land Russia currently don't even occupy, handing over crucial long range weaponry, not letting any foreign troops in (UN forces) and acknowledging the Russian language as the formal Ukrainian lingo. In return the Amercians will enforce this deal by not letting the Russians take more. We all know how reliable tRump and his gang of idiots is.
It has been drawn up by a Putin friend from the White House (Witkoff). Trump likes the deal.

So, in order to push Zelensky into signing this deal (which he is deadset against) Russian actors will do everything to put pressure on him and his administration and close friends. What normally would be a simple litigation matter now becomes an international incident.

Trump and his henchmen are being played - are owned - by Moskva. And Ukraine pays the price.

Next stop: USA & Israel will charge into Iran. Mark my words.

Well, the Ukrainian leader has not been doing himself any favours here:

Absolute power corrupts, no one should have it. However, there is no alternative in Ukraine at the moment.
On the other hand, the entire Russian war machine has not been able to win, and now needs the USA to do it for them.

dom

That deal is so bad that no Ukrainian leader should accept. Handing over loads of land and de militarising. So Russia get a rest for a few years in it's newly handed over territory while it rebuilds its own military capabilities and then invades a softened up opponent.

Only one response from a Ukrainian leader and his level of corruptness is a complete red herring.

"Fuck off Trump and Putin"
