Trying to sort what to hunt for coming Saturday (record store day). Luckily some are re-issues of records not longer in print. So those I can check out.

Charles Mingus Town Hall concert 1964 is the first one and oh my, I have again fallen head over heels with Mingus. The mox of everything that makes jazz interesting is here, but mainly the freedom to do whatever they want up on stage. Yes there is a framework, but hey, just do 2 tracks, one of nearly 18 and one of nearly 28 minutes. As long as we're enjoying ourselves at least someone likes it.

I've been playing At the Gates - The Ghost of a Future Dead.
It is quite a ride.
Vocalist (and all around forreunner in the Sweish metal scene) Tomas 'Tompa' Lindberg ded last year of complication following a cancer treatment.

Not quite sure how to explain it but it hits me quite hard. He was 52 when he died, and this album, very much his final statement, is one of the bands career highlights. Seems he did all of his vocal track the day before he went into surgery because there was a distinct possibility he'd voice his ability to sing or speak.
Together with the new Neurosis these 2 will for sure be my most played heavy releases of the year.
