I'm playing in an open-age football match in the playground of my old primary school.  It's being refereed by a boy who looks no older than eleven.

He gives a very contentious decision against my team, which really frustrates us.  My team-mate kicks the ball away in anger and it bounces into my arms.  I hold on to it for as long as I think I can get away with before tossing it to a third team-mate nearby, who immediately also kicks the ball away in a random direction.

From about twenty yards away the referee pulls out a yellow card and brandishes it roughly in the direction of the above-mentioned third player, then pulls out a seperate yellow card which looks like it is meant for me; but the player who committed the original and worst offence appears to have been let off.

So I run over to the ref before play re-starts and bark at him, "Who got a yellow card just then, ref?!"

"You did", he responds firmly.

The dream then cuts to our 'keeper rolling the ball out to me, but before I can do anything with it I seem to freeze and the dream ends.

I had a really vivid lucid dream early this morning. I'm standing near the top of the stairs at my mum's house. I realise I'm dreaming. I look around, marvelling that I can see every detail, every aspect of the geometry is correct. Best of all I can see it, it's not just a "mind's eye" thing. The doors, the height of the ceiling, the dimensions - it's perfect.

Except for one thing, which is odd - there are round-headed screws screwed into the bannister, isolated from the wood by rubber washers.

I decide to walk down the stairs, to recreate going downstairs on Christmas morning, one of my most potent memories from that house. I go into the second living room, I walk to the back window overlooking the garden - it's perfectly recreated in my head, in my vision. Again there's one odd detail. On a coffee table next to the glass door overlooking the garden, there's a sort of faux-plant made with fibre-optic cable. The points are lit up, a bit like a Christmas tree.

So in my head I have a perfect 3D model of our old house apparently. Perhaps not surprisingly since I lived there for 29 years, not counting brief episodes at Huddersfield and Northampton.

I've done this before I'm sure, probably in this thread, but I did a bit of AI research into lucid dreaming vision:

I'm sure that for some reason, our brains store spatial information that we can't tap into when conscious as easily as when dreaming - sometimes.

About 20 years ago I had a lucid dream, in which I was standing in the town centre in Derby. I stood there, looking around.. as I turned to my right I could see a multi-storey car park building in the distance. When I awoke I thought to myself - I would not be able to see the car park from there in real life. But I tested that theory, and I could. My unconscious mind was more aware of the surroundings there than my conscious mind was. The scene, with the car park visible in the distance was exactly as I saw it in the dream.

But I couldn't recall that while awake.

We store a lot more than we are aware of. Techniques are used to get that info out and I am not talking about anything weird. More along the lines of triggering certain areas of the brain by asking very basic questions and then put in a question on something you have stored but might not be apparent. It'll pop right in your head, odd but it works.

Interesting because there is one thing I'd like to remember, but I can't. When I was 17 or 18, my dad gave me a watch. Just an old one that he was moving on. It was nothing special or valuable, just a '70s handwound watch with a date. Probably an indifferent Swiss brand. I wore it pretty much every day until 1984 when it broke, and I just chucked it and bought a new one.

But while I can remember what it looked like, I can't remember the brand. I can't remember the text on the dial. That's weird to me now because since then I've become a wristwatch nerd and in a way that's all about appreciating the particular manufacturer. People refer to their watch by the brand in a way that they usually wouldn't with other objects.

I've tried closing my eyes, mentally transporting myself to the time when I had it, and looking at the dial. But I can't see the text.

A quite dreadful nightmare last night. Had to stay awake for a while afterwards so as not to drift back into the horror of it again. Very sranglely my next dream was one of those too rare Rush themes. In the dream I was told a HYF tour documentary was being filmed in Glasgow. Unfortunately the dream was one of those disjointed affairs that didn't live up to my sleeping expectation. If only there was a way to direct dreams and play them out in a welcome and entertaining way.

Again, playing catch up with schoolwork. I had failed to submit an essay so asked a classmate how many words we had to write and on which subject. The reply was 1400 words on cycling. In the dream I started to type. The words and particularly the comic approach to the topic flowed from me. Bizarrely as the writer of school age I wrote it from the perspective of a father with three children, two sons and a daughter who had given me a bike and cycling clothing for my birthday. Even on waking the quality of the comedic writing seemed rather good. I don't think I have that ability at all when fully awake so there might be creative clarity lurking in my subconscious. A pity than can't be harnessed and utilised at will.

I'm standing at the bar in a local pub. There are guys sat, standing at the bar all the way along to my right. I catch the barmaid's attention and ask for a pint of lager. Someone else shouts the same request at the same time. I look along the bar and the other order for a pint came from my dad. I say to the girl that I will pay for both. I notice he has a wry smile on his face even though he was looking straight ahead and not looking at me. The kind of look of someone who has just bagged an unexpected free beer. Not much to the dream but my dad died in 1980 and we never did have a pint together.

I dreamed I was at a huge open air charity event, somewhere in the US. Sly Stallone is there, dressed as Rambo. For the entertainment of the crowd, Tom Hanks pushes him into a big, square tank of water - which somehow makes Sly catch fire, spectacularly! But it's an illusion. Showbiz.

I dreamed that on a whim I'd flown out to Spain to see the Vuelta a Espana. However I'd neglected to anything about a return journey and I needed to get home. I then fell in with a Dutch crowd and we ended up at a Restaurant eating Dutch Salad - Tomato, Lettuce and Crispy boiled eggs with a selection of sauces. I then met up with an English guy who lived with a Spanish family who said he'd phone round the local airports to see if they could get me back, but this was 11 at night.

Whilst he was on the phone I went to the toilet and found myself in a Welsh railway station, but unable to get home as the last train was about to depart but that was only going to Cardiff.

Weird dreams this morning.

I dreamed that I had a son, about 9 years old. Elon Musk bought him off me, to adopt him. He gave me a good price so I was fine with it. He came to pick him up in a beautiful estate car with grey leather interior.

Then I dreamed that I was out cycling, along some urban part of Derby - I noticed a pedestrian, a woman with shopping bags walking in space overhead, across the road. I realised she was walking across a pedestrian bridge over the road, but the bridge was invisible - as if in a video game, not yet rendered by the graphics card.

The Picnic Wasp

Absolutely dreadful, terrifying nightmare at about 2.30am. My sister and my late mum were in a dark room together at the front of the house. My sister complained that the curtains weren't properly closed and the light was upsetting her. I had a glass in my hand as I adjusted the drapes. When I turned towards to door I could see a large dark figure through the glazed panel. These doors were replaced many years ago but reappeared in the dream. I tried to shout a warning to my family as the door began to open. I  my mind I had the notion that the glass might be some form of protection for us and I thought about throwing it at the intruder. As the person entered the room I looked up to his face. It was my dead father. He said nothing when I suddenly became aware that the sky had become a purplish pink. Orange bolts of lightning turned the sky orange too. I didn't know if it was the beginning of nuclear war or the end of the world. I struggled to shout warnings to my family who were oblivious to the vision outside the window.  My sister who is currently staying with me during her house hunt came to my door when she heard my distress. She thought I was seriously unwell. Even the stubble on my face was standing on end. I couldn't get back to sleep, the fear staying with me for over an hour. I don't know if the nightmare triggered an atrial fibrillation episode or the other way around, but thankfully OK now.

Not mine, but my wife's - I was in it so I think ok to share.

We were both at an event with Donald Trump.   She asked if he would let us pose for photos with him.  He said yes and was very nice about it.  She noticed how warm his hands were as he held hands with both of us.  Louise gave her camera to someone who proceeded to take loads of photos and she engaged in different poses while they were being taken each more ridiculous than the last, flicking her hair moving her head from side to side etc.  When the photographer was finished he/she handed the phone back.  Louise started to look through the photos when Donald took the phone off her and began to delete the photos he wasn't happy with (most of them apparently, including some that Louise really liked).  He didn't stop at the photo shoot continuing through all the photos on the camera and deleting many of them with no connection to Trump at all.

Not sure which would be better tbh but perhaps it would be better the dream was triggered by the even and not to have  caused it. Sounds like a very vivid dream

Yes, it was. I read today that betablockers can cause nightmares. Might have a word with my GP. I have crazy dreams regularly but nothing as horrible as last night.
