I still make Argentina narrow favourites to win this, they're going to find a way through in the next 25 mins. Then extra time if we're lucky.

Fuck. COME ON ARGIES!!!

Gordon? He can Feck Off sounds Scottish to me.

And that's exactly what happens when you decide to sit back and defend a one goal lead for half of the game.

David L

That's it! Terrible performance by England. Argentina could have four or five.

dom

So many defenders brought on by Tuchel! No outlet

Can start enjoying the world cup now...

Got sh!thoused as expected from the outset, which up until Gordon's goal England were able to deal with okay, then tactically got outsmarted, which they weren't.

But falling short at these stages of major tournaments has been pretty standard fare for quite a while.

Won't be watching the meaningless 3rd-place match (although having attended Netherlands vs Croatia during France '98 I know it's a good experience).

Well that was terrible. Tuchel taking a page out of Koeman's playbook?
Everyone knows teams like Argentina will fight to the death, they will not lie down. So you have to lkeep fighting them.
Shame really.

dom

It's like Tuchel lost faith in the players and the system that got them this far. It worked against Mexico but that was a bit more understandable as the team was down to 10 and Mexico aren't close to Argentina in terms of quality up front.

dom

I'm going to give the team a bit of leeway though. From the altitude of Mexico City to the extreme heat of Miami it's really tough for a body to recover from that. Many players seemed to be slightly off their game last night lacking their usual energy, particularly Kane and Rice. Perhaps that was part of Tuchel's strategy. He didn't think the players had the reserves to keep playing as they had been? Then again he did have plenty of midfield and forward options on the bench?

dom

And "gutted" is that really how we express disappointment these days? Perhaps I'm being snobby but I'd expect a better choice of language from the Prime Minister and Prince of Wales

Clearly trying to ingratiate themselves with the hoi polloi. A ridiculous 'look'
>:(

Slim

There's always some nagging regret, isn't there? This time irrespective of what you think of Tuchel's tactics, it's that the Argentine goals came so late. Could so easily have been different, but couldn't quite cling on.

Anyway they were the better side, we didn't go out due to some disastrous blunder or grossly injust decision by the officials and I've moved on.
