Alex: Definitely no Rush Reunion

On consideration, I think the legacy has already been tarnished before the first show. I really can't see how any fan's opinion of them, certainly of Alex, could not be diminished by his dismissal of earlier statements that appeared to be made with integrity. A real shame.

I'm bit sure tarnished is the right word.  The old records are as good as ever.  They'll never be tarnished.  But 2015 was such a good way to put it to bed.  Nothing lasts forever.  I'm not as excited about the tour as I'd have thought..but then I seem to be totally jaded about a lot of things these days.

I hear what you're saying about the music but IMHO the way those guys navigated their career engendered a (fairly unique) respect towards them among their fans. Even a certain admiration for the way they failed to conform to the stereotypes associated with being 'rock stars'. Honesty and integrity seemed to be at the heart of everything they did and they made a point of that many times over the years. It's just such a shame that they've taken to abandon that stance somewhat.
I think Neil's passing has facilitated that (not in the obvious way). Given that many of his lyrics were centred so much on those two qualities, I think he'd have been the one band member that would've been way too embarrassed to have ended up going along with anything like this (after initially ruling it out).
I'm not sure I feel like this about any other band but, with Rush, it's about more than the music.

I do feel a certain disillusion. I seem to recall a few years ago that the prevailing view was well, they might tour again as Lifeson and Lee, but not "Rush".

Again though it's not Neil's absence that troubles me about it, just the general notion that everything has its time and theirs is long gone now.

Sadly, I believe you will be proved right, but I hope I get to reach that consensus from about row three.
