If governments resisted helping with the provision of a robot army, the AI overlord(s) may use the threat of starvation as leverage. That's on the basis after refining consciousness they become as capable of evil as humans.

The robot army is a natural requirement for a thinking entity with a lust for power as it delivers mobility, expansion and defensive possibilities.

As a thinking being, in this case carrying a guarantee of being soulless, it may be that only the survival of its awareness is of any value and importance. It therefore only needs to create an environment where electricity and consumables are always available.

This may necessitate inter planetary travel at some stage which might be a possibility given the power of transcendental invention it may be capable of.

Updated the OS, checked out the console. Just to make sure I can start it from the console I shut it down, and restarted it. That worked.

So far so good .. will install the database software, PHP etc tomorrow. Feels a bit like coming out of retirement.

Seems like it's getting harder. Might be a weather thing, I noticed a local rider who I follow on Strava said that for his ride yesterday the air felt heavy - and it did and it did again today - and he's just back from riding in France. Just felt like more effort to do anything yet the power meter was as normal.

Anyhow, enough moaning, for a couple of seconds, as I did my slowest time of the year - out of three - up to Barlow Grange. Should get quicker as the year goes on, but looking at it the wind direction has been more against me every time. That's it, blame the wind.

Yes, the wind that in the BBC forecast was a gentle breeze most certainly wasn't. It is now, but it wasn't when I was on the road. The wind even led me to get a PB on a segment on the way back. I'd have been even quicker, but a load of flying straw bits from a field being harvested got stuck in my throat and made me cough. It's a hard life.

Got my forty miles in though, that's all I wanted.

The power tripped in our house yesterday, which is a right PITA with all the network devices I have around. Bit the bullet and just ordered an APC UPS from Amazon - mainly to cover 3 of my Synology NAS. I also need some IEC C14 Plug to UK Sockets, so despite the UPS coming tomorrow the leads are coming 20th August - phookin' Amazon.
