Delaney's Donkey is a great track though, tbf
I loved Potty Time.
Anyone remember Bob Monkhouse's Mad Movies? Another one from around the same time. Bob presented his own favourite clips from the silent film era.

I liked it too, but it didn't seem to be on much in Scotland. I was quite fascinated by the invisible characters moving about in the sand. Now Cartoon Cavalcade (Scottish) needs a mention but only because for months or maybe years Glen Michael (still alive, 99 years old), promised the children that they would show Casper The Friendly Ghost as soon as possible.
STV obviously wouldn't stump up the cash for it and I don't think it ever appeared again. Seemed a huge deal back in the 60s.
The News. Any news programme really. Just remember Vietnam stuff constantly.

But remember the one amazing foreign programme: The Singing Ringing Tree. Terrifyingly brilliant.

TFB was another classic. Loved it even with the dubbing.
Crossroads- mainly due to the theme tune.
The Stanley Baxter Show. Cross-dressing jock comedian produces a full hour of absolute wank.

Oh I agree. Stirring theme tune from what I can remember too. Can't remember anything else apart from I enjoyed it.
The ITV show about the countryside. Half an hour of pure boredom talking about horse brasses and other equally tedious shite.
I think the Fast Show based Bob Flemming on it
EDIT Out of Town...

Have to admit I went down a rabbit hole on You Tube watching all the old Jack Hargreaves programmes, a lost era of rural skills.

Don't know if it was one of these, but there was a foreign kid's programme where you could hear the original foreign language soundtrack, but it was overdubbed by a narrator. There was something really creepy about it.

Well, you'd be safe enough in the town where I live just north of Glasgow. All you hear is English accents, so subtitles would be required. Parliamosassenach?
Magpie.. was pretty rubbish but Jenny Hanley gave me the right horn..
Quote from: Fishy on June 07, 2025, 02:39:43 PMMagpie.. was pretty rubbish but Jenny Hanley gave me the right horn..
Of all the female presenters on Blue Peter/Magpie, she was by far the hottest. Randy minx - in my mind ;D
I fancied Janet Ellis - Sophie Ellis Baxter's mum
Preferred Blue Peter to Magpie as well
Crackerjack.....awful...
Vision On - bloody dire
Bod and Cheggers plays pop
Heidi
The hideously bad dubbing made it unwatchable for me.
Crystal Tipps and Alistair
Mary Mungo and Midge

The Golden Shot
Indeed. Crap TV.
I think the "open the box" line comes from Take Your Pick, hosted by Michael Miles. I can only remember a theme tune song line from Double Your Money, "and try to get rich". Mists might start to clear about that one.
Edit: Looked it up. Double Your Money was hosted by Hughie Green. Unbearable!
Speaking of Hughie... Opportunity Knocks.. just awful..
Yes I remember Take Your Pick with Michael Miles, but I quite liked it. http://www.screenonline.org.uk/tv/id/563416/index.html
Was also going to mention Opportunity Knocks. Which reminds me of New Faces. Diabolical.
Quote from: Fishy on June 19, 2025, 08:08:18 PMSpeaking of Hughie... Opportunity Knocks.. just awful..
I think the definition of irony should be his catchphrase. "And I mean that most sincerely, folks".
Astonishing when Hughie turned out to be Paula Yates' dad. She was certain he wasn't and considered the idea ridiculous.
Remember that biopic from about 15 years ago in which Trevor Eve played Hughie? I thought it was pretty good. I especially liked the scene in which Hughie is seen tonking a young lady in his dressing room. But I thought Trevor Eve was miscast there. Quite a bulky, imposing and charismatic bloke, which Hughie definitely wasn't. But he did get the voice right.
Yeah new faces.. utter turgid bile.. it had that cunt Tony hatch as a judge.. the bloke who came up with the neighbours theme tune.. good job Tony ..fuck off..
