I like it. Accessible fusion. Smooth.

I have mixed feelings about Holdsworth. He was a stunning musician but too often he widdled at extreme high speed just because he could. Amazing legato technique but I don't think it always serves the music well and that's the case too often here.

There are some interesting vocal performances as well, with a singer called Rowanne Mark providing Julie-Andrews-esque snippets on the title track.

Holdsworth is obviously a brilliant guitarist, not heard much but often think I should buy more. My favourite album with him on is Soft Machine -Bundles, and he fits in with their sound rally well. John Etheridge took over from him on the next SM album and he did a brilliant job. I like the idea of him AH playing in Level 42, their is a YouTube video of it....without any video!

I really like Level 42. Mark King came to the view that although he was an amazing player, he wasn't right for the band. There's a very interesting interview with Jakko Jakszyk in which he talks about meeting Holdsworth and being mentored by him. He went on to replace him in that band.

Just found it, here: about 32 mins in.

The other 2 were the Clash - the Singles and Change Everything by Del Amitri, which, as I already own a couple of copies, I've given to a girl I fancy - I sure know how to spoil the ladies, do I not? 😁)

I came to this thread for the same reason, just bought Space Force.

Every artist has their time, and I'm afraid this isn't Todd's. But that's fine. Nonetheless there are some listenable tunes on here, I quite like Head In The Ocean. And there's a hint of the old Todd in I'm Leaving. I like that one.

The production feels a bit basic though and for someone of Todd's standing, that's strange.

The whole idea of the album for me was doomed from the start... ask around for some unfinished songs from various people and he would make them into something...like I said on a Todd forum .. unfinished songs are usually unfinished for a reason ie the artist doesn't think they're very good ... the opener is good with  Adrian Belew the next three are dire  especially the Sparks one ,. Just 5 mins of repetitive annoying drivel...there's a couple of good tracks nearer the end of the album...I'm amazed it's getting the decent reviews it seems to be picking up...
Hopefully he's got this collaborative bug out his system and we can get back to some more imaginative material

I would have preferred to get any of these on vinyl, but all are hard to get hold of and very expensive, so CDs it is:

Beardfish - Sleeping in Traffic Part One
Beardfish - Sleeping in Traffic Part Two
Beardfish - Destined Solitaire

With the blu-ray or just the CD? I've got all the others on CD/Blu so I'll likely get this one too. I wonder too if they'll carry on with these releases now as all the good ones are done (except the live album Playing the Fool) - The Missing Piece, Giant For a Day and Civilian are probably not worth it.

I bought a few more Rolling Stones albums - I doubt I'll listen to the likes of Dirty Work or Steel Wheels more than once but I will listen to them at some point.

Today I bought this, very nice Holdsworth-esque fusion

Ordered the 2017 remix of Sergeant Pepper. I have the 2009 remaster which is great, but anecdotally, the 2017 stereo mix by Giles Martin is better. Uses first generation tapes, which the 2009 remaster didn't.

I doubt I will ever listen to all of them, bought it for the 5.1 mixes and I'd never bought any Camel later than Breathless so I've got a few more in their oeuvre now.

Treated myself to a standalone portable cd player (that has yet to arrive courtesy of DHL). It a Shanling ec mini, looking forward to it.
Yes I already have a Marantz cd player, but this is for on my desk, headphones plugged in.

So with that goes... New cd's! Because the 700 I have are not enough...
Anyway, I found these neat little boxes on Amazon for under 20 euro. 5x Mahavishnu Orchestra (the early stuff), a one disc Mahavishnu 'lost sessions', 2 boxes of 5x Weather Report, the Cure's Join the Dots (rarities and b sides) and a live cd of Dutch band Death Alley. All together 100 euros for 21 cd's. Not bad.

While browsing I also bumped into a Rush box with the Atlantic albums Presto to Snakes and arrows and includes the VT remix, 7 discs for 12,31 eur  :o
I have the albums somewhere so left it, but it's a bargain if you're looking for latter day Rush.

Are they reissued, those are the boxset/book format ones right? Had my eye on those but missed them as well. The Aqualung did not look that spectacular to me. I am not into the whole 5.1 thing. But I love Songs from the Wood.

This new Pallas album is only available on Bandcamp and is purchase only - which I admire Pallas for. I bought the limited digibook version and it won't arrive until the NY, but it at least comes with a 24-48 FLAC download so I can at least give it a play now.

I rarely buy CDs these days, but when I really love an album and it's not on vinyl I will still support the band and get the CD - normally from Bandcamp. I think this is the most I've ever paid for a single CD: £24.50 (£18+£6.50pp). It came from France which is why the p&p is so much - took a while to arrive too:

Nine Skies - The Lightmaker (LP, 2023) (https://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=81323)

I like JPJs, albeit very modest, solo output. Zooma is a good effort, this one is better.

What's your take on Them Crooked Vultures?

Heard this on Huey Morgan's R6 show, downloaded the album from Bandcamp. Right up my street. The album is a concept album (albeit instrumental) about legal difficulties.

Contrary to what I thought before (using my mortality as an excuse to not buy it because I would not be able to properly listen to it due to my demise being closer now than it was yesterday), I ran into it for a fair price at the right time. On top of that I maintain my motto that I am immortal until proven otherwise and in doing so buying the time to let it sink in fully, I bought the massive Camel boxset.

So that's a 34 disc trip through the Latimer Landscape ahead.

Kind of known her since she was little.  She was always a nice girl.  I used to snigger when she said she wanted to be a singer.  She's done good, although it's not really my thing.

Coincidentally...I sold a single ticket for Joanna newsom back in 2005 on eBay...met the buyer and it was Nadine...

These two were up as a package on Bandcamp and when I went to order them they suddenly disappeared. So I contacted the band directly on Bandcamp and got a lovely email from a lady called Anne-Claire in France telling me that the only copies left available are from an online music seller in Germany called JustforKicks and had sold out on Bandcamp. Anyway, I ordered them from there and they turned up today:

Nine Skies - Sweetheart Grips (LP, 2019) (https://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=63672)

As I was in discussion with the band directly I decided to ask about the only CD of theirs that I haven't got in my collection which is called 5:20. It wasn't for sale anywhere, but Anne-Claire told me that there were a few copies at the record company and I could have one for 20 Euros delivered. So I went ahead and that's turned up today too. Great stuff and brilliant service from the band and I now have all 4 of their albums on CD. I did ask about future vinyl releases but it's unlikely in the near future:

I have ordered at JFK many times, they deal with thigs very nicely and they have a large selection of prog in stock always. Last years RSD Van Halen 4LP set turned up from them with LP 1 twice and LP 3 missing. 1 phonecall was enough to sort the problem, my kinda service!

^ You know what was nice about JFK too? They produce a monthly magazine with all the releases in. It's good to get something in paper form this day and age (they included May and June's copies with my order). I'll certainly use them again if I can't get something in the UK.

Since I came back from me hols, I've downloaded:

Lee Ritenour: Rit's House
Patti Austin: Street of Dreams
Average White Band with Ben E King: Benny and Us
Ned Doheny: Hard Candy
Tyler, The Creator: Cherry Bomb
Larry Carlton: Plays the Sound of Philadelphia

.. and a rare physical CD acquisiton:

Bill Sharpe and Gary Numan: Automatic

I'd forgotten about that last one until I heard their single from 1985 on the radio a while ago. You might not think that a collaboration between the prince of heavy electronica and the creative force behind jazz funk luminaries Shakatak would work particularly well, but it does.

I find him difficult to read, but easy to like. His AiC work is phenomenal, I like Boggy Depot (My Song could go on forever as far as I'm concerned), I am getting reacquainted with the full extend of Degradation Trip since I recently purchased the 4LP set, the only one I am on the fence about is Brighten which is a little light for my taste.
I recently found Setting Sun a track on a DC Comic soundtrack, and that is very good. Bit different, still recognizable, but I like it a lot.

Rick Beato interviewed him recently and that was an interesting watch/listen as well.

Bauhaus - Go Away White

Obviously I'd prefer a vinyl copy but prices are mad. So a CD it is:

Been buying some of those, I like them as definitve versions. I have now 12 of them, missing This Was, Benefit, Too Old to RnR and Broadsword. Not bothered with the Christmas thing to be honest. Not the biggest fan of Too old.. but Broadsword is nice, just a bit pricey now. Benefit I'll run into at some point no doubt, as I will This Was. No priority though.

I'm lacking This Was, Stand Up, Too old to RnR and Stormwatch. If I can find them at a decent price then I'll bite.
I won't bother if anything comes out after Broadsword, if I'd been born a few years earlier, I'd have been the scourge of Jethro Tull forums: OLD TULL GOOD, NEW TULL BAD!!!!!

I have 3 of these on CD and 3 on Vinyl already, but it's nice to have set like this and it looks good next to Gungfly's Rumbling Box:

I was looking at the vinyl (released in a couple of days, I think). How does the remaster stack up against the original? Great album.

Hard to day yet, just played the CD, but only through my Soundbar so not the best way of doing it. Sounds good enough and got me "singing" along.

those new mixes make Under Wraps an album you can actually listen to now? See that Bruce Soord has take Steven Wilson's place.
