I hope there isn't a thread for this elsewhere, apologies if already discussed. I've been with BT for decades for phone and broadband. I once briefly subscribed to BT TV but had insurmountable issues with it and cancelled after only a few days. I must be one of very few in the UK who survives on Freeview.
However, Freeview reception has been dire recently so I've decided to take the plunge and become less of a dinosaur. I don't fancy EE at all. Something just seem to sit right with me. Virgin is out too as despite all the good reviews I've just had a new monoblock driveway and path fitted so don't wish that to be disturbed. Sky looks good but I don't know anyone who has it and I don't want to rely on reviews or their salesman, who was very good to be fair.
Any thoughts, pointers would be grateful received. I should add I'll probably continue with a landline although I don't know why. I must want to be scammed!
We have Freeview and Netflix, but don't use Netflix often. Oh yes and Prime Video, although that's really only because I subscribe to Prime for quick deliveries. Very rarely use it for telly purposes.
I use YouTube a lot. But for live, traditional real-time TV broadcasts we only use Freeview. Sorry I can't help re: Sky.
You might struggle to find a new deal including a landline. Copper landlines are being phased out.

I'm in roughly the same boat as Slim. We have Prime as I subscribe for the other benefits. They do have the occasional gem worth watching (Citadel / Reacher / Clarkson's Farm are some examples that spring to mind).
We hardly ever watch live TV - more often than not it will be on catch-up.
We have been with Plusnet for quite a few years now with very few problems. This is using a fibre cable to the property delivered from above. No digging up driveways.
I'm free view and Amazon prime and use torrents for anything else..I must save a fortune on sky/ Netflix/ Apple TV etc
Thank you all for the advice. Well, time for some egg on the face. I got to thinking about why the Freeview signal should be becoming so progressively poor so quickly. Usually when there's a sudden change in atmospheric pressure i would struggle for certain channels, but over the past couple of weeks channels have been dropping out and not recovering even after several retunes. I watch TV at the rear of the house.
I wasn't happy at the time of the wood burning stove installation when the guys ran the aerial cable very close to the hearth where it emerged from the floor. I also have an aerial socket in the front room so as an experiment I picked up a 10 metre extension cable from Screwfix today. Connected it to the TV and bingo. I couldn't believe it as I started the retune process. Channels were appearing like wildfire. 151 in total. I've never experienced so many at any time. Even got to watch a bit of Jethro Tull on some obscure channel I'd never heard of.
So, all plans to try Sky or otherwise cancelled. I'm quite happy with a working Freeview and catch up apps. I just need to go under the floor and route the extension properly. I assume the offending cable has just gradually deteriorated over time due to movement or heat or a combination of issues. Delighted with an unexpected result after failing miserably recently with a signal booster.
