Between The Wheels

I've just checked the Sunday opening times for the EnormoTesco four miles away, and it seems they have "elderly hours" on a Sunday morning from 9-10AM for people in their 60s and over. The store opens for everyone else at 10AM.

As far as I can tell I can get round a supermarket as easily as I could when I was in my 20s, and since I have long arms and I'm over 6 feet tall, I can reach stuff on the top shelf more easily than most people of any age.

But I definitely am over 60, so technically I'm entitled. But should I take advantage of a service that's really intended for other people?

I don't see how it is taking advantage if it is intended for a group you are 100% a part of. The real fiun start when a small group of vigilante elderly start policing the age barrier, pointing and yelling: 'he or she does not belong here, only 59 and 11 months and 26 days old!' For that alone I'd be there whenever I can  ;D

But really, no one is telling you to not visit it outside of these hours, it's an added option, I'd use it but only when necessary.

(BTW: do they actually check your age?)

My local store also has this feature. I haven't used it yet but wouldn't hesitate to do so. I have no mobility issues thank the Lord, but I find the lighting in this particular store a bit difficult. It seems to dry my eyes very quickly so a bit of extra time and room to check the shelves might be welcome. That said, I often find it's often pensioners in shops who get in my way so the margin of benefit might be quite slim (sorry, narrow).😁
