I've never heard of this. Fascinating to have an unused NP lyric to play around with mentally if accurate.

So weird that I didn't ever read this. Obviously very old news. Puzzles me.

Bit of a misleading title that. It's a set of leftover lyrics, and not the best at that. I am sure the had more. Don't think it would have made VT any better of an album.
What puzzles me more is why they were not used, it never stopped Geddy before shoehorning lyrics into songs where they didn't fit.
Maybe just as well they remain in their dormant state. Such a shame that Geddy's brilliant melody writing instincts seem to fall off a cliff after Hold Your Fire. Still some great songs afterwards but nothing as inspirational as from the man in his youth. That creativity collapse seems to happen in most walks of life so I'll just be content to cherish those lush days.

I think it's partly due to the way they wrote songs with the advent of technology that allowed bits of jams to be stuck together easily on a computer. I think if you write music with a guitar in your hands, the melody and the chords evolve sympathetically. But if you have the instrumentation all done and you have to think of a melody to fit over it, quite often you'll end up with rubbish, as Geddy usually did when he tried to sing over their later stuff.
I think
Freeze may be the absolute nadir of this. I actually find the vocal melody quite comical. Awful.

Yip, a dog's dinner. Like a broken vase glued together in the wrong order with bits still missing.
