Post by: Slim on March 27, 2024, 01:29:37 PM
Going anywhere nice? We spent a long weekend in Pembrokeshire (a few pics below). Back to Montenegro in September. A weekend in York in August.

A week in June so far, same where we always go. The east of our country, about as far away from people as possible.
It was noticeable more expensive though - as in: a lot.

Still scheming and planning about which Greek island to visit in August - one that would be new for me (Corfu, Skiathos, Mykonos) or somewhere we already adore (Pefkos in Rhodes, Kos, Santorini)? We shall see.

I certainly also want to revisit Athens for a city break around the end of October - two nights last year wasn't enough and there's a strong sense of us having unfinished business in that place.

Had a couple of nights in Birmingham  :P
Got a midweek break in York in April
Got a weekend break in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in June

Not done more than a couple of night's away since about 2012  :(

And I agree with Fishy, Corfu's a nice place, certainly was nice place, not been since 1992...

A fortnight ago we had a week in Hinterglemm in the Austrian Alps. First snowboard trip for four years. Lovely hotel, absolutely delightful food. Snow not all that but a fantastic holiday nevertheless.
No plans for summer yet. I may save my leave as I'm retiring at the end of August so I could go a week or two earlier if I don't use it.
We've already had a couple of weekends away in the motorhome. We are off to Bakewell tomorrow for the Easter weekend. Cycling and beer on the agenda.

From September onwards, everyday will be a holiday!

Was supposed to be in Corfu this week but holiday firm went bust, now residing on Kos for a week instead. Nice to feel the heat and see blue skies again.

Kefalos?  When I stayed in Tingaki the locals spoke highly of it.

.. and a few from Bosnia, or Bosnia and Hercegovina as it's properly known. Our friends Natasa and Zoran, who live in Tivat, took us to Trebinje last Saturday. The bridge is a famous landmark and was built in the 16th century (but moved by 10km, stone by stone, in 1965).

Reserved an Athens hotel for the same dates as we went last year, plus another night. As I've mentioned before here, we have unfinished business there.

I've still strongly felt the lure of the place ever since I left it and simply booking a hotel room made me feel like a giddy school kid.

Off to North Wales next week. I don't know where as my wife has booked it as a surprise. So far this year it'll be our 3rd break in a UK cottage. First was The Cotswolds, then near Holy Island in the NE, and now Wales. I don't miss overseas holidays at all. Next year we will be looking at Dumfries - even though my mother was from Lockerbie it's one of the few parts of Scotland I've never visited.

This is all booked now, albeit with one thing and another we won't be able to stay for the extra night I planned.  Still, you could say I'm lit up with anticipation. :)
