I lost my Samsung A52 at Niagara Falls. I brought my A32 out of retirement but it's too big and heavy for cycling; doesn't sit well in a chest pocket.
I was going to replace it with a renewed S21 or S22 but it turns out the newer Samsungs don't have SD card slots or earplug jack sockets - you have to go bluetooth or get an adaptor.
So I've bought a Sony Xperia 10 V. The camera's likely not as good as my A52 which was superb in that respect, but it's smaller, lighter, does have an SD card slot and a headphone jack. Should arrive in the next few hours.
I'm Android only. What do you use?
Wife got an i17 for her birthday ..I assumed control of her old one an i11 does me fine..
We both have a Google Pixel 8a, great phone for the value. Always the first to be updated, also only Android.
Happy with it. Never owned a Samsung or iPhone, previously had LG and Huawei phones.
I am a 'buy' type with a sim only subscription. Works fine, on average I use a phone for 5 years then buy a new one.
Xperia arrived. Very nice, more compact and light. Had to turn a few annoying things off. Setting up apps now. For an awful moment I thought it didn't have an SD card tray, but the SIM tray is double sided. It's packing 256G + internal 128GB now.
Not quite "as new" but not a scratch on it. Very nice nick.
Must get a case for it.
Had to look the Sony up, nice and compact. Mine is 188 grams I read, which is quite ok.
Also, I forgot that I am due 7 years of updates on this phone. So I am stuck with it for a while. Which is fine, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.
Samsung A55 - still has the SD card slot, that last of this range that does. Wife's got an A35 which too has an SD card slot. No idea what to get next as the A56 and after has binned the slot. Android only too (my wife had an iphone 4 years ago and it was crap).
Got a Samsung Galaxy S25.
Has capabilities way beyond what I need it for, but it was on a good offer from Tesco and the battery in my old one was fading.
Gets updates for seven years too, which means I'll be in no hurry to move on.
I have a Xiaomi. As a rule I find Chinese phones to have a better battery life than Samsungs and so much better value for money
Try not to snicker (I get enough of that at home), but for the last few years I've had a renewed iPhone SE 2020.
It facilitates my needs and I'm too tight to buy anything better, but my hand may be forced soon as the battery is at 75% and of course will only get worse.
If you only want to make calls/text an older phone can be an option but if you want to use apps (for banking etc,) they become obsolete in time due to the processing speed/memory. Sooner or later you will end up in a situation where it is impossible to download the latest operating system including upgrades and patches to keep your device secure or end up with insufficient memory for the latest versions of apps you use.
Built in obsolescence is a given with phones, iPads etc. Infuriating.
iPhone 16 pro max... got the bigger version as easier to see and hold, although I think I have dropped this phone more in one year than all my others put together. My muscle memory is all iPhone and I struggle with my work phone Samsung A56 due to this.

I have an iPhone SE 2020. I've always had iPhones since I started using a smartphone. I think my first was an iPhone 2. I find them very user friendly as I'm impatient with technology, preferring the everything done for me approach.
This model is beginning to feel a bit tired from time to time and I would like a larger phone, so probably time for an upgrade. It's just so tempting to stay with this one though as on this contract provider when the phone is paid for the monthly payment is peanuts.
I'm using an iPhone 8 atm. It's still functional but not for much longer, I suspect.
My second (active) phone is one of these, a Nokia 105. Very small and light, no apps save a few low resolution options like a calendar and a calculator as well as messaging and calls. No camera. Weighs 67 grams.

I bought it to replace my old Sony Ericsson which was about the same size. That one did at least have a very crude camera.
I've had the contract since 1994, believe it or not. I took out an Orange contract in November that year with my first mobile phone, a Nokia 2140 which I still have. Back in about 1999 Orange had an offer by which they would match any other provider's tariff. Virgin Mobile had a tariff with no monthly charge - you paid a bit more for calls and texts. So after a few years with the original contract period fulfilled, I changed it to that.
I remember I also had to change the phone number in about 2000 - my first number started 0973, and all mobile numbers were required to start 07 following a regulatory change of some sort.
So - I have a spare backup phone with a working SIM in it - I do believe the same SIM I've had since 1994 - that can still make / receive calls and texts, but doesn't cost me anything unless I do.
