Title: Drones
Post by: pxr5 on June 11, 2026, 12:36:55 PM
I've never owned or flown a drone before, but I was thinking about checking my gutters to see if the down pipes need unblocking. Rather than risk my life with a ladder I though why not get a little drone to have a look. They are cheap as chips on ebay, so just spunked £20 on a little 4k one. As long as it goes up and gives a picture of some sort I'll be chuffed.

I'll report back.  ;D

I bought one a few years ago, unfortunately because it's over the specified weight I'm not allowed to fly it without a drone licence now. They're easy enough to get I believe, I just haven't got round to it. I did get some pretty good photos with it. Video, as well.

It's a DJI one, I forget the particular model. Maybe I'll charge up the batteries and organise a sneaky illegal launch.

A lad called Max does my gutters. Should be Mad Max really as he has no fear of heights. He only asks me to hold the ladder if it's windy.

Oops, it came, it worked well and whilst I was getting the hang of it went into a bush and one of the motors burnt out. Maybe cheap ones like this are a waste of cash. Oh well, lesson learnt. I'm going to get my lad to buy a decent one and he can have a go.

I'd like one of those Amazon delivery ones so I could drop a package off to my lovely neighbours enjoying a small hours outside party. 😂🤣
