My GOD what have I just watched? I don't know how to describe it .. dark, decadent, intense, immersive. Really compelling. It's like having someone's bad dream administered to your brain intravenously.
Incredibly, written and directed - brilliantly - by the woman who plays Camilla in The Crown. There's a moment when curtains are drawn and a room is bathed in a dim red light.. Hitchcock would have been proud, any director would.
Masterwork.
Got to say I was disappointed with this (and Wuthering Heights) after Emerald Fennell's excellent debut, Promising Young Woman.
"Someone's bad dream administered to your brain intravenously" is a perfect description of Eraserhead, and arguably every other film from David Lynch. :)
