Title: Gilmore Girls

I was roped into this on binge a while back. I didn't think it would be my cup of tea at all, but I was curious to watch Lauren Graham at an earlier part of her career as I thought she was excellent in Parenthood. Turns out it's rather good comfort TV, ideal for just before bed after watching too much news or reality TV.

it's set in a small town called Stars Hollow. The kind of place you expect James Stewart to turn up at any moment, in fact the whole show has a slight feel of It's A Wonderful Life about it, albeit with cell phones and modern themes.

The cast is excellent. Alexis Bledel who plays Rory (the Gilmore Girls daughter) is a great actress (I know). She carries the role of innocent bookworm prodigy with just the right amount of modern streetwise ability very well. Kelly Bishop, the mother / grandmother could easily have been from the 60s Bewitched sitcom.

The whole package is all a bit about nothing really, predictable relationships, ambitions and small town squabbles, but it's innocent and very enjoyable.
